Just witnessed to quote Carino the most absurd end to a FB game.

Rutgers up 3. Illinois (ranked 24th) facing 4th down attempting a 58 yard FG into the wind with 13 seconds remaining. Schiano calls TO ostensibly to ice the kicker. Illinois reconsiders and out of the timeout throws a touchdown and RU loses on senior day. What was GS thinking?

His game day coaching is truly suspect.

Crazy stupid coaching. And the loss might have cost them a good bowl.
Detroit on 26th seems to be the likely destination.

Quite possibly the dumbest thread I could imagine after what I watched last night. Laughing at a team that just had a lead on a ranked team with 15 seconds left. You can’t make it up.
Two things can be true at the same time. The SHU program is a dumpster fire, and Schiano made an inexcusable coaching blunder.

Every coach would have called that timeout to ice the kicker. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
Disagree. No way on a 58 yarder would EVERY SINGLE ONE call a timeout. Insane. And I suspect with a comment like that you didn't watch the ending and the situation.

And they're going to have a lot more to laugh at with us than we're going to have to laugh at them for. So it's better to just shut the hell up.

I watched. And you would be wrong. A field goal wins it for Illinois, the kicker had already kicked a 59-yarder earlier in the season, 18 seconds to go in the game, and Rutgers had all 3 timeouts left. Everyone would have called a timeout there. And if they lined up to kick it again, he would be right to continue to call timeouts.

Plus, if he didn't call time out and the kicker made it the same dopes including Carino would be killing him for not icing the kicker.

I made a factual statement. But don't worry I'm still thinking there might be a dumber thread topic you could've made, I just haven't come up with it yet.
You’re a bore. A tedious one at that. Thankfully you’re easily ignored. Don’t like my factual posts? Don’t read them. Spare the 90% who weren’t so irritated as you by not commenting. And please take a breath next time. Peace brother.

I think some people are missing the point. It’s not that schiano called the timeout, as most coaches undoubtedly would, it’s that he called it late enough to allow the player to get the kick off on the dead play. schiano admitted as much himself. By allowing the player to get the kick off on the dead play, it gave the Illinois coach a chance to second guess himself, realize the futility of the initial plan and the unlikelihood of his kicker converting at that distance, and call up something different. In the end, by not calling the timeout a little earlier, schiano helped set in motion his team’s demise. Indeed, he did it wrong.
