Mamu remains a class act and I keep hoping he gets consistent minutes and becomes part of the rotation for the Spurs.

Good numbers for Mamu last night especially his 7 rebounds leading the team in his 15 minutes .
Jeremy Sochan has a fractured thumb and will be out indefinitely. He is scheduled for surgery later this week. That will give Sandro the opportunity for rotation minutes.
Despite the nice stat line, his minus-12 sticks out like a sore thumb. The Spurs lost ground (in a game that was never really close) during both of his stints in the game. That's certainly not all his fault but it's something the coaching staff will use in its evaluation of his performance.
But every player had at least -9 for any double digit playing time and Mamu was pretty much the same as the starters.
6 players ranged from -9 to -12 with Castle, Wemby, Johnson and Branham each either -17 or -18.
Mamu was pretty much right in the middle.
+- is a more meaningful stat across several games (or a season). Less so a single game
It’s actually ironic you say this because Gregg Popovich (his coach) is the most vocal critic of +/- stat. He hates it and has called it useless.
“It’s the most meaningless thing on the whole sheet. I don’t know where (the idea) came from, who pioneered it, who slid it into the NBA, who thought it was cool.
”I’ve got no clue, but it’s the most useless thing there is on the whole stat sheet. It’s dangerous. It creates the wrong impressions for players. I hate it.”
