Saw this and laughed

1. That $1 billion was for smaller famers to complete with the people she was calling greedy.

2. That's when the subsidy is provided to the consumer though. Subsidies to farmers wouldn't increase prices on their own.
1. Right, only small farmers got subsidies. We know from past experience with farm subsidies that isn't even remotely true. That the theoretical of the ivy tower elite vs. the reality of how subsidies are really doled out.

2. Nope, same law of economics applies when you provide subsidies to producers whether it be directly to the producers or indirectly to the end users. The only difference is which special interest group you are trying to curry favor from.

More snark….neat

Well yea, because you're just narrowly scoping a definition of a word instead of saying you know what... maybe it is difficult for some people to eat a healthy diet.

Maybe the lack access to healthy food. Maybe they don't know better. Maybe their schedule doesn't allow for the best choices. Maybe they grew up in an environment with bad choices and decades later the habits are hard to break. Maybe they are addicted to sugar. Maybe they have depression and lack the motivation to put the effort in. etc etc etc...

That's not to say it's not their responsibility to try. It is, it just might be harder for them than it is for you.
Again, not a crazy statement.

1. That is fair.

2. Disagree on that one. A subsidy to an industry does not impact price consumers are willing to pay. It allows them to charge less or make more. When consumers have more money, then they are willing to spend more.

Maybe it’s difficult for some, but not for the vast majority. We like to use excuses sometimes to ignore emphasizing the importance of personal responsibility.
