Season Ticket Renewals

Will there be fans in the arena this year considering fall/winter covid surge?

You can live in a bubble if you’d like and take the current governor with you. The rest of us will be at the Rock. Don’t live scared.

Ok I will stick to listening my friends who are in the medical profession. There will be another major surge because of the variants this winter and people unwilling to get vaccinated. Don't expect to go the rock this winter. And if there is a crowd, I will definitely not be going.

I’d like to see sections for vaccinated folks and unvaccinated, like the Nets did for the playoffs. Any surges, though, and all bets are off.

Correct. The latest I read is the Prudential center will only allow vaccinated patrons into Devil's games this winter. I assume that will be the same for seton hall too. But as you said the predictable surge will happen. Viruses spread quicker indoors. I just don't spectators in the rock next winter.

A shame this degenerated into a political thread. I was excited and hopeful when I got the email and was looking forward to seeing our boys in person this year. Can't wait to see Richmond and the young guns in person. I'm fully vaccinated and hopeful for the future. Also looking forward to kicking Rutger's butts at the Rock!!! 👊 Let's pray that things continue to improve and we'll be almost back to normal come basketball season.

Where is the politics in this thread? I was talking about a covid surge. That has nothing to do with politics. Its science and health. If covid is spreading this winter, there shouldn't be any fans at the games or limited with masking

Why did you say “if” ??? I thought according to you and your medical friends it was a definite?

Fully vaccinated people should able to attend games, unless things spiral crazy out of control.

And for those not vaccinated there should be a very small or extremely distant space for non-vaccinated people so we can get back to living! I understand that some who can’t get vaccinated do so for medical reasons. Need to create a new hybrid rewarding those who do what’s best for society!

Those who feel at risk stay home - it’s a win-win! We were at the senior night celebration as season fans, without vaccines, mask on, masks off when eating/drinking, all within boundaries. I get we are healthy but we need to move forward - God willing we will continue to do so.

It devolved because the board wacko chimed in. A troll who claims to live within his house in a hazmat suit not having opened a window or stepped outside since March 2020.

These virus debates should stick to the LOTS.

The fact that the email came out is good and obvious that the expectation is fans in the arena. The responding post is rhetorical and intended to incite.

I am just warning this board to not get too excited for returning to the rock this winter. We are still in the pandemic and variants are spreading. The Delta variant is a huge concern and we will learn more about this variant in the next few weeks.

Where did you read this about only vaccinated individuals in the pru? I don’t believe that’s true or anything beyond speculation

You are incorrect. The mayor of Newark already signed an executive order that facilities such as the NJ PAC center and Prudential center should only allow vaccinated patrons in.

Even though you say its "pure speculation", that does not mean you are right.

If you are fully vaccinated and actually believe that the vaccine works then why do you care if anyone else is unvaccinated? You’re protected, right?

The vaccine is not fully FDA approved and still experimental. If people want to sign up to be part of the test trials and get the vaccine then that is their decision. Others with working immune systems who do not want to be guinea pigs and do not know the long term affects (the short term affects like Bell’s Palsy, blood clots, paralysis and death, among others, don’t sound too appealing, especially death, you aren’t coming back from that one) for a virus with a >99% recovery rate should be allowed to live their lives and make the medical decisions they feel is right for them. Your medical issues and decisions are not everyone else’s business.

Modern segregation in 2021. Sounds like a good idea! Never ceases to amaze me how crazy some people are.

Just listened to a Johns Hopkins doctor on Bloomberg. He said if you‘re vaccinated the pandemic is over. The only people showing up in hospitals with Covid are unvaccinated people. He said we will know when we’re back to normal when people start catching colds and getting the flu again.

People caught colds and the flu last year but sadly any disease then was called Covid. The guy on Bloomberg might want to double check his notes because fully vaccinated people are still getting and transmitting Covid, they are also going to hospitals and dying.

Lol. I'm vaccinated. Tell your friends there could be a second or even a third surge for all I care. I'll be at the Rock this year and Murphy better not ruin it.

@radecicco I'm not sure what this "John Hopkins" doctor is referring to. People that have been fully vaccinated are going to the hospital because of covid.

@HallPirate do you still believe this is still full speculation even after the mayor of Newark signed an executive order questing the NJ PAC and pru center to only allow vaccinated patrons into its events?

Actually VERY LITTLE flu this past winter....and vaccinated people are NOT going to the hospital and certainly are not dying. Less than 1 in several million.....those are good odds. Better chance of getting struck by lightning.

I guess I’ll listen to you and not infectious disease doctors from JH. They have been on Bloomberg daily and now weekly since March, 2020. 150 million people have been vaccinated and a miniscule % have gotten mild Covid. There are always outlyer situations that you can point to and unfortunately there is no zero risk in life. However if you are vaccinated you are as safe as you can possibly be. But everyone must make their personal risk assessment. I’m getting my season tickets but, frankly I will wait until the winter months before deciding what games to attend.

Oh brother- follow the science my man.

So my 9 year old nephews gets to go sit in an unvaccinated section alone?
This will be a problem for folks, like me, that attend most games with my young kids or there friends. I ain’t going to have them sit at their age in a separate section. It’s just not happening.

First of all, I asked a question about the source in order to learn more, and I appreciate you sharing that source.

secondly, your statement was about this winter. There’s nothing in the statement you shared that would give an indication that the intent is to carry the order to the winter. At the pace that guidelines are being peeled back, your conclusion is a big leap.

I’m the same article, which is three weeks old, it talks about how the Mets are not requiring proof of vaccinations, beginning three days after the publication of said article.

The Pru currently has shows on sale now for august and September with no social distancing and that don’t require proof of vaccination.

My question was not around if an executive order had been signed, but specifically around your assertion that, “the Prudential center will only allow vaccinated patrons into Devil's games this winter. I assume that will be the same for seton hall too.” There’s a big difference between what you shared and the conclusion you’ve come to.

be better.

Shufan is , IMO right and wrong on a few points. The vaccine is not effective in 100% of people, so there certainly is a chance that 5% of vaccinated people in a arena will not have immunity like they think they have. So correct on that point.
With regard to variants, certain viruses like the flu have unstable RNA and some are very stable RNA like what causes chicken pox. The question we have to ask about variants as it applies to us is "are the people that had Covid getting infected a second time?" . That is important because so far with all the variants, the answer has been No. (with exception of very small # of people who have case studies written about them if they do get sick 2nd time. )
Right now it's all about taking ur own personal precautions and hoping the governor allows full arenas. And pray that what SHU fan says turns, out to be wrong on all points....lol

Right now all the restrictions are gone. 2/3 of adults and the highest risk are vaccinated. Others can get it at will if they want. The virus is better treated than a year ago. After the year we just endured let’s enjoy some optimism?

Bring in the games. Looking forward to getting back to The Rock! This is great news.

Most New Jerseyans agree on one thing. Per this article they will be wearing masks for the next couple years. I'm happy majority of people in this state are concerned about the health and well being of other. As we know now masks are just a sign of respect.

Let’s also remember that ticket renewals (thankfully) say absolutely nothing about vaccines.

Most people haven’t worn them outside in the past two weeks! Honest question - do you leave your house?

Not the New Jerseyans I know! We’re largely over it and have been for quite some time. Like I’ve said before, don’t live scared.
