I'm in the minority, I know that but from the get go last year I said Gibbs would be an issue and he was. No doubt he put up good numbers early on, but I honestly think this is a blessing in disguise when it comes to team chemistry. (There was a reason he didnt go to Big East Media Day).

On the court Sterling was a good shooter, but he slowed up the tempo of the game and was not a great distributor, we was a 2g stuck in a pg body.

Lets hope IW and KC take this as a challange and bust it this summer. This team is now theirs.

He was? How do you know the "issue" (or issues) aren't left behind? The fact is, the idea that Gibbs was the issue is unsubstantiated, and in all likelihood, a misplaced accusation.

No it isn't. We are talking about a player who was suspended multiple times during his time here. Also, don't you find it odd that he wasn't at Big East Media day the year after making a huge shot at the Big East Tournament (The issues started in the summer). Im not picking sides here, just saying Gibbs was not the model teammate everyone wants you to think he was.

No, I don't. Not when you consider that the decision is made by the most ham-handed coach we've had. Even Gonzalez, for all the destruction he wrought, wasn't as clueless as this. He made terrible decisions, too, but his undoing was his arrogance and paranoia, not his actual stupidity and incompetence.

The suspension that will always cling to Gibbs is the Arcidiacono incident, and there is no way to defend it. But, I will say that I can understand it a but given the context, in a season that saw Gibbs and Sina made to be outsiders in their own locker room by a cabal that included an assistant coach (!), who, in a complete vacuum of leadership, were handed the keys to the crazy bus. And that is the culture of Seton Hall basketball that will steer us into the 2015-16 season, which ought to be one for the ages.

Willard is the one not to bring Gibbs to Big East Media day. Another idiotic move by the coach. Another is not to make captains when Gibbs clearly should have been named a captain.

Also, Gibbs had the best assist to turnover ratio on the team. He also led the team in assists. Where do you get that he wasn't a good distributor?

I'm going to give some credence to the General's POV on this. I don't think there are any innocent parties in the chemistry breakdown of the team last year.

But let's be honest, although this sounds like a broken record, I do think most of what transpired last year could have been prevented if the leadership of the program had a handle on all of the personnel last season. It's clear that Willard pissed off Gibbs when he was left home in place of Whitehead at the Big East Media event. Sina was promised too much and then became instantly miffed when Willard decided to do what should have been done in the first place; make him an option off the bench.

All of the issues of the team trace back to the leadership of the program (or lack thereof). By all accounts, all of these kids appear to be solid citizens. No question, there were plenty of egos to massage, but a good Head Coach at this level should know how to deal with that. If you can't, there is always the mid major ranks to get a job.

Unless I am mistaken, it was Willard who made the unprecedented decision to bring a freshman to Big East Media Day, and to also not name captains. Seems like those horrendous decisions started planting the seeds of discontent between upper and under classmen. Of Course Mobley said all the right things when asked about IW coming to media day. In hindsight, once again, the coach of the flagship program was in over his head and his (poor) decision making once again came back to bite the program in the arse...

Bingo! Very well said.

I don't know who to blame either I.W. or S.G. but do know who to blame, Willard handled every situation wrongly.

the primary job of a head coach is to manage the chemistry of the team. ours is incapable of doing so. you bring 13 different people together and spend long enough together you are going to bump heads. need the leader/hc to be able to manage it. willard cant

Going into next season, I didn't see how Willard was possibly going to bring IW and SG onto the same page. Willard is to blame for last season, but in terms of next season - since we are stuck with Willard - then I think he has a better chance to regain some control of things with Gibbs not here. A sad reality.
