South Orange, N.J. – Vice President and Director of Athletics & Recreational Services Pat Lyons has announced the promotion of two highly respected administrators on his staff. Bryan Felt and Kevin Sponzo have both been elevated to Senior Associate Athletics Director.
“I am excited to promote two outstanding members of our athletics department who work with our vision for excellence always guiding them,” Lyons said. “With creativity, attention to detail and innovation, Bryan and Kevin continually show that they are leaders among their peers.”
Felt, a 1997 graduate of Seton Hall, has been a member of the department since 2001 and previously held the title of Associate Athletics Director for Development and External Affairs. He oversees the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund, Seton Hall’s fundraising arm that provides vital support to the advancement of the department’s athletics programs and student-athletes. He also oversees the department’s communications, digital media, marketing and ticketing efforts and serves as the sport administrator for softball.
As the leader of Pirate Blue, Felt has been behind a dramatic increase in fundraising efforts. Over the past five years, Pirate Blue has raised $8.2 million, which has gone towards enhancing the student-athlete experience at Seton Hall. In addition, Felt was behind the department’s Donor Matching Day initiative, a day-long program of fundraising that has netted $480,000 in its four-year history.
Sponzo has worked in athletic facilities at Seton Hall since 1998 and previously held the title of Associate Athletics Director for Facilities & Operations. He oversees all of the department’s athletic facilities, including the day-to-day operations of the Richie Regan Athletics Center, game management, equipment, capital projects, and construction. He also serves as the sport administrator for baseball and men’s & women’s swimming & diving.
As head of facilities, Sponzo has led Seton Hall’s impressive facility enhancements that have taken place over the last three years. Under Sponzo’s leadership, eight projects have been completed, including the Charles W. Doehler Academic Center, the Center for Sports Medicine, brand new locker rooms for each varsity sport, the new 7,500-square-foot Varsity Weight Room, the new 40-seat Varsity Film Room, an updated men’s basketball locker room and a new digital videoboard at Owen T. Carroll Field.
Sponzo is also responsible for current projects that include the renovation of Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field, four new tennis courts, the renovation of the Richie Regan Athletics Center lobby, the Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame and a new golf lab.
