2023-24 Meetings:

#23 Creighton 72, Seton Hall 65 (F) – March 3, 2024 (Walsh Gymnasium)

#21 Creighton 57, Seton Hall 49 (F) – January 28, 2024 (D.J. Sokol Arena)

AGAINST CREIGHTON

Seton Hall and Creighton will meet for the 26th time in history on Saturday with the Bluejays owning a 19-6 all-time series lead. Creighton has won five straight games against the Pirates and swept the home-and-home season series this season, although both games were close. These teams played as recent as Sunday with the Bluejays coming away with a 72-65 road victory in Walsh Gym.

EARLIER MEETINGS THIS YEAR

Creighton won both games against Seton Hall during the 2023-24 regular season, but both were hotly contested. On Jan. 28 in Omaha, Azana Baines had a game-high 19 points to go with nine rebounds, but the Pirates couldn’t find their offensive footing late and fell to No. 21 Creighton, 57-49. The Pirates trailed by as many as 12 points in the third quarter, but battled back thanks to a 10-0 run. Both defenses clamped down in the fourth quarter with each team making only one field goal over the final 10 minutes. Creighton, however, went 8-for-12 from the free-throw line to hold off Seton Hall.

On Sunday, Baines had a game-high 23 points, but The Hall fell to No. 23 Creighton, 72-65, on Senior Day in Walsh Gymnasium. The Pirates led at the half, but an 11-0 third-quarter run by Creighton proved to be the difference-maker as The Hall couldn’t draw even afterward. Seton Hall was just 12-for-21 from the free-throw line which made its comeback attempts more difficult.

In two games this season, Baines has averaged 21.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Creighton’s Morgan Maly has averaged 15 points and 10.5 rebounds per game against the Pirates.

SCOUTING CREIGHTON

The Bluejays enter Saturday’s contest as the No. 21-ranked team in the country having finished the regular season with a 24-4 overall record and a 15-3 mark in BIG EAST play. As the No. 2 seed, they earned a first-round bye. Creighton has won 14 of its last 15 games, with their lone loss coming at UConn on Feb. 19.

UP NEXT
With a victory, Seton Hall will advance to the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals and meet either No. 3 seed St. John’s or No. 6 seed Georgetown at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The game will be nationally televised on FS1 with John Fanta, Kim Adams and Meghan Caffrey on the call. Ryan Henry and Ryan Johnston will continue to carry the WSOU broadcasts.
