One of the imperatives for future Hall hoops success (both the team and Sha) is for Sha to rebuild/remake his public persona. His approach doesn't work in today's new hoops world. Being a PR professional, here are some recommendations i would give him if I were his PR handler

Open Up/Be More Approachable.

Many (press, fans, backers) feel disconnected with Sha. He comes off as know it all and standoffish in many settings. He needs to open up and be accessible. One aspect is better reading the room.

Stop Doing Everything

He tries to do far too much. He can't possibly do everything. His assistants feel like the very definition of "yes" men. He needs to learn the subtle art of relinquishing control without losing authority. Micromanagers rarely succeed in business.

Stress Positive/Alleviate Negative/Smile Sometimes

His public posture and body language is awful at times. This is especially true in press conferences. He looks like he is miserable and makes all of us feel the same way. It is always a downer feel. (Yes, last year was a deep dive of negativity) Can't help but think his players feel this too. I saw a lot of tuning him out last year.

I equate what Sha needs to do with what Tom Coughlin faced with Giants. He totally remade his personality/outward approach without compromising his coaching and core principles. Two Super Bowls later and he's loved and revered. Wasn't always the case.

I agree there are similarities and for Tom Coughlin it was basically an intervention. And that was with a coach coming off consecutive playoff appearances, lol.

It seems like Sha is getting a mulligan for last year and there has not been an intervention of any sorts. Also, where's the check and balance for him at SHU? Felt? The President/BOR who are their own mockery right now? He runs the place. Let's hope there have been some lessons learned after that abomination last year and this turns out to be a surprisingly good year. And by that I mean, let's be respectable. That would be a massive improvement.

Or next summer will be a different story for him and he could be on the Ewing Track.

I'd add, too, subtle elocution advice.

Interesting juxtaposition with the Ewing Track! Hope we don't go down that "track"

he obviously proved he can coach in his previous stop, and his 2nd year here, he has it in it, just needs to get the right ingredients ... St Peters wasnt a fluke, maybe if he won game 1, but 2, then 3 it shows he knows how to do X's and O's so I have faith just needs to $$$ Find his guys

Stop screaming at kids like a maniac in front of thousands of fans and shaking your head and pouting like a child everytime the camera is pointed at you.

Don't get all upset at lower level coaches who are trying to win games (Copeland issue).

Try to say something positive on Social Media about the players.

Learn how to coach offense.

When the team underperforms at the beggining of the year, stop saying this is normal and that things will turn around and you always get your teams playing better as the year goes on.

Honestly, all the talk about him being a great coach applies at St. Peters, but not here. Even his second year here we didn't make the tournament with a team we should have. He is severely overrated as a coach and at this point I feel like literally any coach in D1 basketball will give us the same results because they can't get worse.

the only reason that team should have made the tournament is because sha coached them up for the big east season. you had guys like bediako who vastly outperformed what we expected preseason.

If he is winning this would all be a moot point and not discussed.
Let’s hope that happens. Until he does it will be theorized this is part of the problem, especially when you have to re-recruit players annually and sell them.

So what you're saying is both before and after the rule changes, we haven't assembled the talent to make the tournament.
