Bozzella has had a history of his teams slipping down the stretch.

In a must win match against the 11th seed Xavier. They start the game with no energy and miss their first 10 shots. Down 14.5 after 10 minutes.

Hopefully they gain focus and turn it up in the 2nd quarter.

Down 10 at the half in what might be one of the worst halves of basketball by both teams you’ll ever see. I never knew how historically terrible Xavier women’s basketball has been.

Agreed. Pathetic effort by a team crying they were being disrespected, despite being blown out against every ncaa tournament level team they faced.

Scoring 15 in a half against a Tier 4 type team. Lot of work needed in 3rd quarter.

Awful basketball Lloyd, but they pulled off a win, with constant pressing to squeak by, with 20+ Xavier tos.

That said, unless they win in the semis and are competitive in the final vs Uconn, they have an extremely low probability to play in the ncaa

The women shot 1 -10 from the three and 13 - 53 from the field for 24,5 % from the field both horrible stats .
It was horrible, but the only thing that really matters for them this weekend is to beat Creighton and not lose by 50 to UConn. They even needed Creighton to be the semifinal opponent, which almost didn’t happen. Playing Georgetown today wouldn’t have helped.

ESPN as us as the seventh team out as of this morning. Frankly, we've done ourselves no favors in these two meetings with Xavier.

Realistically, we need to win the BET to get a bid in my view. Beating UConn would probably be enough if the auto bid didn't come with it.

One (semi) positive from our perspective. Marquette lost and ESPN now has them behind us. We're probably no longer competing with them for a bid although it doesn't help our resume (as our best win to this point) that they went out in the quarters.

They did survive and that's what counts. Their trap is excellent and got them through it. I think it they were nervous out of the gate. Jada and Faith have to shoot better today for any chance vs Creighton. The one thing they need to do is stay under control. Low percentage shots and turnovers kill them, Faith has been overworked and is trying to do too much now. If they play with the focus they had at Marquette they can beat Creighton, The Hall's absolute nemesis team. It will be great when some of these Creighton gals graduate. Have to limit them to 12 made threes and maybe less than that. That is how good they shoot beyond the Arc. Tough task today. They need this Quad 1 win for any chance for a bid and even that will probably not be enough. The Seton Hall's Women's Team are trending up and they have had a rock solid season. Catalon is a player to watch moving forward.

They made nice run to cut from 23 to 11 at half. Still will be tough to come all the way back but have a bit of hope. Got some foul trouble.

WNIT again .
Actually they’ll do better than the WNIT.

They’ll be in the WBIT, which they were also in last year. That’s a good thing. The WBIT is run by the NCAA to act the same as the men’s NIT. It also ends in Hinkle.

The WNIT is still out there as the pay-to-play tournament, but SHU won’t need to play in that.

Sometimes games like that can help in the long run. A few of these players were in their first BigEast Tournament. More important Creighton should be a 5 or 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Seton Hall is close to being a Tournament Program yet far away at the same time. Right now, they just don't compete well against good and great programs. Also, you can't have players that you need in walking boots and knee braces out of action every single season. They need talented athletes in that front court if they want to reach the next level.

All nine of our losses came against teams ranked higher in the NET than we are -- UConn, Creighton, Marquette, USC, LSU and Princeton. Many of the losses came by large margins.

Conversely, our win over Marquette is our only win against a team ranked higher than us in the NET.

That will make it easy for the committee to overlook us.

UNCASVILLE, CONN. – Graduate student Faith Masonius (Spring Lake, N.J.) team-highs of 16 points and seven rebounds, but the Seton Hall women's basketball team couldn't slow No. 23 Creighton's offense in a 73-44 loss in the BIG EAST semifinals on Sunday.

The Pirates never led in his one as Creighton opened the game 6-for-6 from the field. The loss eliminates The Hall from the BIG EAST Tournament.

In addition to Masonius, Jada Eads (Orlando, Fla.) scored in double-figures. She had 11 points, three rebound and two assists.

THE STORY:
Creighton came out of the gate on fire from the field, connecting on their first six shots, including a trio of three-pointers, to grab an early 15-4 advantage and force a Seton Hall timeout. Even after their first miss, the onslaught continued. The Bluejays shot 64.3 percent from the floor in the first 10 minutes and were 5-for-7 from three point range. The Hall trailed, 23-6, entering the second quarter.

The Bluejays held the Pirates scoreless from the 5:37 mark of the first quarter until the 6:03 mark of the second quarter. In that 9:34, Creighton went on a 14-0 run to grab a commanding 29-6 advantage. The Pirates stormed back, thanks to their defense, and used an 11-0 run to cut their deficit to 29-17 with 2:15 left before halftime. Kaydan Lawson (Cleveland, Ohio) hit a three-pointer with 11 seconds left to trim The Hall's deficit to 33-22 at the break.

A layup by Eads with 7:53 left in the third quarter cut The Hall's deficit to 35-26, but it was the closest The Hall would get in the second half. Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) fouled out with 1:44 left in the third quarter and the Pirates played uphill the rest of the way.

Creighton used a 10-0 run between the end of the third quarter and the start of the fourth to give the Bluejays a commanding 58-35 lead.

THE NUMBERS:
  • Seton Hall was 15-for-54 (27.8%) from the floor for the game, while Creighton was 29-for-55 (52.7%). The Hall was 3-for-18 (16.7%) from three-point range, while the Bluejays were 12-for-23 (52.2%).
  • Masonius had team-highs of 16 points and seven rebounds to go with two assists and two steals.
  • Creighton out-rebounded The Hall, 34-to-31, but the Pirates had a 10-to-7 edge on the offensive glass.
  • Eads had 11 points, three rebounds and two assists.
  • Seton Hall was 11-for-12 (91.7%) from the free-throw line, while Creighton was 3-for-6 (50.0%).
  • Both teams forced 14 turnovers.
THE NOTES:
  • Seton Hall falls to 22-9 overall and is eliminated from the BIG EAST Tournament, while Creighton improves to 26-5 and advances to the Championship Game.
  • The Pirates drop to 6-23 all-time against Creighton and have now lost nine in a row to the Bluejays.
  • This was the fifth straight year that Seton Hall and Creighton have met in the BIG EAST Tournament.
  • With 16 points today, Masonius surpassed the 1,300 points mark for her career.
  • With two steals today, Masonius surpassed the 200 steals mark for her career.
  • With five rebounds today, Lawson surpassed the 400 rebounds mark for her career.
  • With two steals today Amari Wright (Jacksonville, Fla.) moved past former Pirate Leslie Chavies into sole possession of sixth place on Seton Hall's career list with 214.
UP NEXT:
Although eliminated from the BIG EAST Tournament, the Pirates' season is far from over. The Hall will wait to hear if it's selected to participate in the NCAA Tournament or Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament on March 16.
