Marshall Henderson won't be on "SportsCenter" anymore or watching the show for now.

The controversial Ole Miss guard fired off two tweets this morning bashing ESPN for a segment on Michael Sam, who became the first openly gay player to be drafted into the NFL on Saturday when the Rams selected him in the seventh round.

Henderson's college career is over, and is not expected to be drafted to the NBA.

He later explained the series of tweets as a social experiment that his gay friend, who is a psychology major, asked him to put up.

Henderson was not the first athlete to react negatively to Sam's selection. After the Missouri linebacker was picked, Dolphins safety DonJones tweeted out "OMG" and "horrible." The Dolphins fined him and will undergo educational tweeting before being allowed to return to the team.

Jones apologized for the comments and took the tweets down.

"I remember last year when I was drafted in the seventh round, and all of the emotions and happiness I felt when I received the call that gave me an opportunity to play for an NFL team, and I wish him all the best in his NFL career," Jones said in a statement. "I am committed to represent the values of the Miami Dolphins organization, and appreciate the opportunity I have been given to do so going forward."

got to love the excuse. did henderson even play this year?

but doesnt Sam want to be treated like every other 7th rounder who gets absolutely no coverage?

The tyranny of the gay lobby and liberal media is what is truly sickening. All men of good will must stand up and fight the gay lifestyle and not be afraid to oppose it.

CatholicMan I have a lot of respect for you and many of your previous posts, but you could not be more wrong on this... Guess we will agree to disagree...

How quickly we forget what our Pope is preaching... All I hope is that Michael is happy, and as long as he is then more power to him... If a guy can kiss a girl why cant a guy kiss a guy, because some Peoples religion says its wrong? What happened to separation of church and state and allowing people to freely practice what ever they would like...

What i really love is how the Far right (which i consider myself to be a member of in most cases) can use the constitution to protect guns and there freedom of speech, but if I wanted to kiss another guy that's not protected!!!!!

Avalanche coming.

To expound, tangentially, upon what Father says above, I do find it sickening that the CEO -- of Firefox's parent company, was it -- was fired when it was discovered that he donated to the California proposition 8 funding, several years ago. We are a sad and pathetic culture, and this witch hunt is uglier than the hate they proclaim to be fighting against.

The pope disagrees with you. I think that is pretty important.

The response to his donation was absurd, but he wasn't fired.

No issue with the coverage of it. Could have done without the numerous kisses and cake section. They probably should have toned down the celebration section of it or put an R rating next to it. Did not want my young kids watching that behavior, whether it be man on man, woman on woman or man on woman it was inappropriate and over the top. A hug and one small kiss would have been sufficient.

I don't care about Michael Sam. Not at all. Not one tiny little bit. Don't care what he does off the field. Don't care what he does on the field, any more than I would care about any other NFL team's 5th-string defensive end. Enough already.

Right? I mean Im so grateful that when they kissed my tv didnt explode or frogs start to from the sky. And then he started celebrating with the rest of his crew I thought for sure we would get some sort of massive flood. I just pray for our safety the day he puts on a rams uniform and helmet and looks like the other 50 players of the team... god only knows what will happen then. I cant even stand to think about him owning a house, paying taxes, god forbid raising a kid.

Many SHU students, and perhaps some athletes are gay... theyre all great people and make the university proud. Can't wait until this sort of mindset dies out.

he has to undergo "educational tweeting".....................really? what the heck is that?

sorry, I just cannot get used to this "tweeting" "facebooking", and any other "I share my entire life online" generation.....

This over a 7th round draft pick that was lucky to be drafted. I could care less if someone is gay or straight. Let's talk about what really matters and that is will he be a good football player or not. Time will tell but he did not score well at the combine. I just hope St. Louis keeps him if he is good enough and cuts him if he is not without worrying about the potential fall out. Because if they keep him and cut someone else who is better, now that is discrimination in my opinion. Hopefully its clear either way whether he is worthy of making the team or not.

I was just straight up annoyed with ESPN and NFL over coverage. So Manziel slid that happens in the draft. There were some great picks. So Sams is gay I don't give a rats ass.
This about the league not players.
That being said I am happy with the Steelers draft. They have just added a ton of speed on the defense. Their need of CB was strong. But, with the line being blown up opposing qb's will be running for their lives.

Steelers 3rd round pick # 97 overall pick Dri Archer is the real deal and will make an impact. Watched him at Venice HS Fl, has speed 4.26 40, 225 lbs 20 reps and 38 in vertical. He will be a game changer.

How can you make such a broad statement like that? Just because you are a homosexual doesn't mean you are a good or bad person. I know some gay people that are awesome people; I also know some gay people that are complete assholes.

Statements like yours reflect a larger problem; everyone wants to seem so open minded that they go overboard in praising homosexuals for every little thing they do. That isn't progress, that is just embarrassing. If you want to be progressive treat everyone the same and don't make a big deal about it.

Manziel didnt even slide that far, but man it was sure great watching him squirm for an hour. Ive never seen that look on his face.

Completely false, though not surprising, considering what the media is feeding the masses.

Non-Christians often twist Christ's message to be "just love one another." While this is central to his teaching, he also came to divide, and was pretty clear that what's right and wrong was not necessarily a subjective thing. The Pope's call to service, and for acceptance of homosexuals, is in no way a condoning of same-sex marriage, but his message has been perverted in the same fashion.

I don't have a problem with this gay man, nor any other one. I have a problem with usurping the word marriage, and this gestapo that insists we all fall in line, and accept that this aberrant behavior is normal and fine, with the threat of legal, political, and financial consequences.

And apparently Sams jerseys are currently selling at #2. Ive been saying this all along about Collins and now about Sam, these mediocre gay athletes need to strike while the iron is hot, Nobody would ever know who jason collins or michael sam are in 10 years, but now theyre in the history books. Combine it with all the ESPN coverage and these guys really made something out of nothing.

Dont hate the player hate the game

Here is my take on the NFL Draft: Johnny Manziel will be a superstar in time. Cleveland will be greatly improved.

I hope the Jets also filled all their needs.

This is a sports board, right ?

It puzzles me why people care so much about other people's lifestyles. It only effects you and your family in your deranged mind.

What's more puzzling is being forced to call the unusual the usual. People have a right to opinions and beliefs different from yours, and condemning them as deranged, old-school, "Christian right," or what-have-you doesn't engender the respect everyone seems to expect to receive without showing any.

I wasn't around when they de-segregated schools, and I don't dare to compare the struggles of the African-Americans with the gay rights movement, but I don't recall a scorched-earth effort, particularly after-the-fact, to demean, or to destroy the livelihoods of those who were opposed to it, before change came. Then again, that was before the internet and social media.

This kid is the first one to come out, I understand the importance of that. If he wasn't gay, he would have been another 7th rounder whose name nobody knew.

I was around when schools were desegregated. IMHO there is absolutely no philosophical or moral justification to compare racial prejudice with life-style choices.

I am totally against any or all mistreatment of any individual based on his or her sexual choices. I am totally against any or all mistreatment of any individual based on his or her religious or political choices, as well. Two wrongs do not make a right.

Jerry's post was IMHO the best to this incident. Acceptable social behavior does not include excessive PDA.

I understand the publicity of this, but it would seem this thread belongs off-ship.

I cannot relate to the homosexual lifestyle, but I believe the whole kiss thing was over the top. For the record, my stance is, I would rather see two guys holding hands than holding guns.

In US stats indicate 3.8% of adults self-identify. Higher percentages seem to ''have ever engaged in same-sex activity", but that includes JHS bullies, I suspect.

My point was that the pope does not believe that anyone "must stand up and fight the gay lifestyle"
That is an extremist point of view not shared by the leader of the catholic church, and should be treated much the same way we treated the people who used to stand up and say that all men must stand up and fight against women's rights.

We have discussed it before, but marriage is not a religious term. I can get married in a church but it is not recognized until I sign a license. The only step you can skip there is the religious one.

So at what point in your life did you chose to not be gay?
Clearly, for you to believe this to be a choice, you must be attracted to other men but decided that you would not peruse a relationship with them.

Personally, I have never been sexually attracted to another man so I never had to make that "choice"

How 'bout that nutty James Baldwin. He chose to be both black and gay... REAL GLUTTON FOR PUNISHMENT.

Understood; I don't think the Pope wants a war on homosexuals, either. I disagree about the sacramental rite of marriage, and believe there should be a distinction between same sex and heterosexual unions. The gay rights activists fought very hard for that word, even going so far as to refuse accepting all the rights and benefits thereof (in the case of NJ), without the word "marriage." If it was purely about equality, you take the deal; if it's about riding a wave and sticking it to the church/religious, you keep pushing.

It was not only one of the most disgusting displays I have EVER witnessed, but the fact that ESPN played it ever 10 seconds while I was in the barber chair was equally disturbing. The gay lobby/agenda in this country is trying to shove this "being is gay is normal and commendable" BS down everyone's throat. So now because the media feels this way, the masses have to simply discard what they have believed regarding Biblical teaching and common sense for the last 5,000 years. Funny though, that elusive "gay gene" seems to still elude researchers! Oh but they were born than way so we can't judge, right? Utter BS and the scientists know it. This trash comes from the media, not science. And we know how reliable they are. All the while this country degenerates further and further into the toilet that it now has become. I fear for the next generation to grow up in this country, for they will certainly be some of the most brainwashed and confused people.

The masses are simply disregarding what theyve believed from biblical teaching because it contradicts common sense. Hold on to that rosary because the world is changing and theres absolutely nothing you can do about it. And btw what do you think was the original media? Religion. Funny how only now the masses are being swayed. Whats also fun is that homosexual behavior has been observed in nature. We should stone those monkeys and damn them to hell! I mean, im sure God didnt make them that way it was their choice.

You really think what they do is disgusting? I think the child abuse that has run rampant in the Catholic church is much more disgusting, but shhh lets not talk about that.

It's funny that Marshall Henderson is the one spewing this garbage. Do you know what's much more sickening than anything Michael Sam has done? Marshall Henderson's crime-ridden history and the series of slaps on the wrist he has "suffered" because he can shoot a basketball.
