What is the big secret about the amount of money the conference agreed on. I do not get the delay on the $ amount. Can anybody explain or have any idea why ?

$10M is $6M more than each university is currently receiving. In all likelihood, the NCAA will allow universities to compensate players for their NIL, adding $6M to the kitty would be fabulous.

The best case scenario would be a NIL team cap around $3M for men's college basketball. This would allow SHU to use the extra $3M of the media revenue increase for other sports, coaching salaries and program upgrades.

Keep in mind that each Big East Team receives annual revenue from the NCAA Tournament, ticket sales and advertising.

Good luck getting the boosters to comply to NIL limit.

Wichita State got $2.2 million as the only basketball member of the AAC for the year ended 06/30/22.

The AAC has way more than 8 members left.

If the current 12 year deal paid out $41.67M per year, divided by 11 that is 3.78M annually per school, which today would equate to about 5.08M per school in 2024 dollars. Assuming the current rate of inflation, the original annual distribution from 2013 would be worth approximately $5.25M in 2025 dollars. So yes it is $2.7M, but you are looking at additional $1.5M-$1.95M beyond what our current TV deal would be worth today.

Also, apparently the peacock portion of the deal starts this year in the 2024–2025 season. There was a $19.99 deal for a full year of peacock. Apparently that is good through the end of the month. it was on my TV when I downloaded the app but I didn't pull the trigger on it. Now it's not there, but I think it's still valid. If anyone find a link post it. We might as well do it now and have it for the Olympics as well.

The six new members will not receive the same conference payout as the eight returning members at first, though Aresco said the plan is equalization at some point. The AAC’s TV deal with ESPN has paid members around $7 million per school. A mix of exit fees from departing members and other factors will keep the eight returning members whole. The six new schools won’t make that much but will still make more than they did in Conference USA.

SPK is correct as eight football members carried over from 2022 to 2023 - East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and USF, plus Wichita State as a BB-only.

Disappointing numbers. When you consider what the BE takes, it will amount to around $6M per school.

It's an increase but not enough to keep pace with all of the lost revenue (House settlement, less NCAA bids, covid) and new expenses (paying athletes).

Paint Touches is a good site but no more connected than any other site including this one.

If that $80 million per year number is correct though, that would yield $5.454 million per school after the Big East keeps approximately 25% of that to run the conference.

This would be disappointing as many, me/Mike Walsh included, thought the Big East could at least double it's current contract which is now about $50 million year.

They add a lot but ticket sales and net BET$ are still the same as always and the NCAA credits are going down by 20%. (Boy I hope the judge does not approve the settlement!!!)

There's a huge financial impact of the Big East only getting 3 teams in the NCAAs. Even with UConn winning it all again, the BE took in $8 Million less from the NCAAT this year than 2023 when 5 teams got in.
