What is the big secret about the amount of money the conference agreed on. I do not get the delay on the $ amount. Can anybody explain or have any idea why ?
Good luck getting the boosters to comply to NIL limit.$10M is $6M more than each university is currently receiving. In all likelihood, the NCAA will allow universities to compensate players for their NIL, adding $6M to the kitty would be fabulous.
The best case scenario would be a NIL team cap around $3M for men's college basketball. This would allow SHU to use the extra $3M of the media revenue increase for other sports, coaching salaries and program upgrades.
Keep in mind that each Big East Team receives annual revenue from the NCAA Tournament, ticket sales and advertising.
Yup this time it's the same clowns but a different circus !Good luck getting the boosters to comply to NIL limit.
The Big East has never released any media contract details ever. What is the big secret about the amount of money the conference agreed on. I do not get the delay on the $ amount. Can anybody explain or have any idea why ?
No.True, but it's the first raise since 2013, right?
Wichita State got $2.2 million as the only basketball member of the AAC for the year ended 06/30/22.For comparison Wichita State as a basketball-only member of the AAC will receive approx. $7M per year from their contract as one of the 8 returning members of the conference.
Of course on the other hand, they had to play in the American, which, as you may have heard me mention in the past, was a bucket of suck.If the current 12 year deal paid out $41.67M per year, divided by 11 that is 3.78M annually per school, which today would equate to about 5.08M per school in 2024 dollars. Assuming the current rate of inflation, the original annual distribution from 2013 would be worth approximately $5.25M in 2025 dollars. So yes it is $2.7M, but you are looking at additional $1.5M-$1.95M beyond what our current TV deal would be worth today.

saw someone mention maybe a 35/40% increaseI don't like that they didn't announce the money. That makes me nervous.
Also, apparently the peacock portion of the deal starts this year in the 2024–2025 season. There was a $19.99 deal for a full year of peacock. Apparently that is good through the end of the month. it was on my TV when I downloaded the app but I didn't pull the trigger on it. Now it's not there, but I think it's still valid. If anyone find a link post it. We might as well do it now and have it for the Olympics as well.
If you discount back $5.5M 11 years using 3% interest it equates to $3.95M.No.
At Signing 2013 = 35000000
Year 1 2014 = 30388692

I think Mooney means Wichita State was one of the eight AAC schools remaining after Cincinnati, UCF and Houston left for the Big 12 but before the addition of the former C-USA schools.Wichita State got $2.2 million as the only basketball member of the AAC for the year ended 06/30/22.
The AAC has way more than 8 members left.
But they were never in an AAC with 8 teams.I think Mooney means Wichita State was one of the eight AAC schools remaining after Cincinnati, UCF and Houston left for the Big 12 but before the addition of the former C-USA schools.

The six new members will not receive the same conference payout as the eight returning members at first, though Aresco said the plan is equalization at some point. The AAC’s TV deal with ESPN has paid members around $7 million per school. A mix of exit fees from departing members and other factors will keep the eight returning members whole. The six new schools won’t make that much but will still make more than they did in Conference USA.
You are right. And the 8 number is relevant because the new members are not getting a full share of the TV revenue pie.
SPK is correct as eight football members carried over from 2022 to 2023 - East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and USF, plus Wichita State as a BB-only.The six new members will not receive the same conference payout as the eight returning members at first, though Aresco said the plan is equalization at some point. Disappointing numbers. When you consider what the BE takes, it will amount to around $6M per school.480m for 6 years. 7.27 per school? Prob not . How much % does big east org get again?
That has been the obvious plan of major fb for years.i hope you're ready for the conference with the most championships to slip into irrelevancy.
Agree the only thing that saves non football schools is the NCAA tournament .Also a good question to ask our AD .That has been the obvious plan of major fb for years.
Paint Touches is a good site but no more connected than any other site including this one. What I saw from something called Paint Touches, the new deal is worth $480 million for six years compared to the current deal of $500 million for 12 years. This new deal is worth more than every other conference media deal other than the P4 and probably the MWC.
Here are the numbers from the year ended 06/30/22 for the AAC:SPK is correct as eight football members carried over from 2022 to 2023 - East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and USF, plus Wichita State as a BB-only.
If the AAC deal with ESPN pays members $7 million per school, Wichita State as a non-football playing member is certainly not getting a full share. The $2.2 million SPK cites would likely be a "full-share" for them.
Likewise, Navy is a FB-only member of the AAC (they are in the Patriot for other sports) so they are not getting a full-share either.
They add a lot but ticket sales and net BET$ are still the same as always and the NCAA credits are going down by 20%. (Boy I hope the judge does not approve the settlement!!!)There is still ticket sales, BET $$$ and NCAAT credits. Not sure how much that adds on top of the media deal $$$.
Wow! A poet and we didn’t even know it. 😵💫You call me a troll when I have actually written a poem about Sada:
Seton Hall fans didn’t like you
They yelled “YOU SUCK”
Don’t believe them, Sada
Believe this wise Duck.
From Seton Hall's court did you depart
To San Jose State, where new dreams will start
With your wingspan wide, you seek a new crest
You will paint the canvas of a new hoops conquest.
Oh, Sada, like a duck upon the breeze
You glide from East to West with joyful ease
Where Silicon Valley's sun does warmly beam
You will chase your destiny, your vivid dream.
Duego Duck applauds your leap and your flight
From Pirate seas to the Spartans' shining light
May San Jose's embrace and cheering throng
Echo the journey of your heart's sweet song.
🦆
There's a huge financial impact of the Big East only getting 3 teams in the NCAAs. Even with UConn winning it all again (and Creighton & Marquette in the S16), the BE took in $8 Million less from the NCAAT this year than 2023 when 5 teams got in.There is still ticket sales, BET $$$ and NCAAT credits. Not sure how much that adds on top of the media deal $$$.
