Someone Help Me

Although I’m doing it here, I just don’t see the purpose of continuing to beat the proverbial dead horse over and over. This past year was a complete disaster and there is no excuse making.

The whole CBB landscape (NIL, transfer, etc.) has become a turn off and coupled with the teams performance has combined to make my worst season as a fan. I only watched a handful of games this year to the point where I can’t even comment on the year end profiles Dan does on each player. I watched fewer March madness games because the teams are a bunch of faceless players.

I can’t blame this all on Sha though. He got a late start his first season and was able to snag Dre, Tae and Dawes. Then he got Bediako as the money/transfer wave accelerated. Then he made some very bad decisions with a minimal budget….worst in the BE. That said, he has to adjust or else.

I’m exhausted too of all the non-stop trashing threads. We can opine on the players that come and go, but it comes down to results and we won’t start seeing that until November.

College basketball went from my passion to my daily comedic relief. I come here and ever since the NIT win, something negative has happened to our program. At first it was sad. Now I laugh. Like you said— faceless. And that includes our own. Nobody here signed up for this crap. Not one person here relates to this foreign game. At least not to my knowledge. I’m out on my season tickets and I’m not upset. If we die as a program (blame whoever you want), then all I ask for is this game to die with it. Greed absolutely destroyed a beautiful thing. Good luck, Felt, Sha, and whoever the hell else is trying to hang with the big boys. This ain’t it.

Good summary. The game has changed quickly and for the worst. It’s compounded by the lack of leadership and resources at SHU. Perfect vomit storm. A President who should have never been considered (and now in the center of a scandal), a BOR who has been an embarrassment with multiple investigations and micromanaging the NIL. Lyons and Felt on a milk carton. And Sha running with a strategy in this new norm that failed miserably. The landscape has changed quickly and SHU was ill prepared to respond.

I come here for a ray of hope but I’m a realist. Show me. Maybe the roster that shows up over performs? And maybe I magically shave six strokes off my handicap. Both prohibitively unlikely.

It’s a tight group that doesn’t want to let anyone else in and even if they did, that person would be extremely hand strung. They are going to succeed or fail with their guys. Any legitimate outsider would expose their flaws.
If you weren’t buddies with Felt in college they won’t listen to you.

The problem is rules being instituted that allow unchecked greed to take over. It didnt have to go this route. The players could have rightly shared in the money they earn without destroying the game.
