Starting 5

Doesn't all this debate about the starting lineup come down to the fact that our recruiting efforts have failed to produce a legitimate , high quality, starting center thus forcing Angel to play there not the four or to at least to bring in another high quality, ready yo compete player who could play either power position.
Just my opinion. But right now I believe Angel is a better center than a power forward.

I would rather see him there then at the 4.

Between him and Anderson (need to see more of him to be sure) I think we'll be OK at the 5.

It's the 4 where I am worried and think that position will dictate our success or failure this season.

Wonder if Willard will do what he did against Baruch and go with Gordon in a three guard lineup or play Desi at the 3?

Are Dartmouth's guards as lightning quick as Baruch's?

No, that is not a serious question...

That's where the problem lies. You are not beating quality teams with a 6-5 210 lb power forwarding playing a ton of minutes. Especially when he really doesn't want to play there in the first place.

We have size in Ish, Nzei and Anderson. It might not be with the quality of player we all want but it is what it is.

Having our PF's sit on the bench while Desi gets pounded by bigger and stronger players is not a recipe for success.

By the end of last year he was physically exhausted as was Delgado who often had to go it along with the opposition's big guys in the paint. So Desi playing the 4 effects more than just himself.
You use the word size, but i think you mean height. Desi is a dogfighter under the rim. Right now i feel more confident for Desi not to get bullied than Ish and Nzei. Especially when Ish and Nzei havent played any minutes. Honestly not sure how anyone can share a different opinion. You cannot say Ish and Nzei will help us beat quality teams anymore than Desi. The problem is Delgado is literally our only big man. Thanks Willard. At that point just play our best 5 and hope for the best. Regardless, the situation is extremely bad down low. Perhaps Ish surprises me but right now I dont have enough to have that opinion.

Also, Desi is only 6-5 now? I understand if he doesnt wanna play the 4, his coach should maybe recruit a starter once in a while.

We should start Desi and hope he gets his sea legs and his confidence.

I couldn't agree more that the key to this season is what we get out of the other power position opposite Angel. What is so frustrating is that with the core four to build upon we have been unable to add the pieces necessary ,especially at the power positions , to make this a very solid team that can compete against the better competition we face .
