South Orange, N.J. --
After another successful Donor Matching Day, Pirate Blue raised over $175,000 on April 30th, thanks to the generous support of Seton Hall's alumni, fans, students, student-athletes, faculty, staff and administrators. Donations came in throughout the 24-hour period as supporters stepped up to further enhance the Seton Hall student-athlete experience.

The highlight of the day was receiving a donation from a supporter in each of the 50 U.S. States, which triggered a $50,000 gift from an anonymous donor. Pirate Blue secured the final state, Arkansas, in the 8 p.m., hour. Overall, all the donations received were matched by an anonymous donor by 30 percent.

Pirate Blue also celebrated Donor Matching Day at Walsh Gymnasium with free food and prizes to all who donated as well as a live show that was broadcast on the Pirate Sports Network, featuring interviews and features on Seton Hall student-athletes and coaches.

The Pirate Blue Athletic Fund directly supports the Seton Hall Department of Athletics and its student-athletes. Pirate Blue strives to embrace and engage the most dedicated Pirate fans within the Seton Hall community to further promote the passion and camaraderie that makes the University so unique. Donor Matching Day is not the only day you can donate; you can make a tax-deductible contribution and join Pirate Blue today and any day of the year by calling 973-275-6447 or visiting PirateBlue.com.

I had the opportunity to donate at the event in Walsh Gym. They did a nice job with it. While there, I had a chance to tour the finished renovated facilities. You can see where the money has been going. I saw the training room last summer, but last week I saw the weight room. It far exceeded my expectations.

The school is putting our money to work and all the teams have the support and infrastructure to succeed. Now, it's up to the teams to perform on the field/court.

Like I mentioned in a post last week, I saw the Manthorpe twins, a golfer (I'm assuming Ali Kruse), and Tony Bozzella get interviewed for the webcast while I was in Walsh Gym. It was nice to see the three most successful programs of the school year highlighted. It's nice to give supporters insight into other programs besides the men's basketball team. Yes, basketball is the flagship program, but other programs are doing well and using the resources given to them. The golf budget has gone up (men and women), volleyball recently won the Pirate Pride Challenge, and women's basketball got a financial boost from winning the Big East and earning an NCAA berth.
