Terrible game and effort at Creighton. So, third place is probably out. Creighton is 12-6 with two games left (Marquette and @Villanova) They win one and they have third place unless SHU win the 3 remaining games(@UConn, Villanova and DePaul). I guess Creighton could lose both.

Seton Hall will be no worse than 5th place by beating Depaul. That would make 12 conference wins. We know that either Providence or Villanova will have at least 9 losses because they play each other on Saturday. Should both teams lose one game each and Seton Hall beats DePaul, then SHU get 4th. Seton Hall is also guaranteed 4th place by beating Villanova and DePaul.

The Villanova game is now humungous for SHU. There is now a more realistic chance for SJU to be the opponent in the 4/5 game. SJU has two easy games (at DePaul and GTown). Beating Butler tonight convincingly has them playing their best basketball of the season. Beating them for the third time in a refed up MSG is not the best scenario. SJU has the tiebreaker over Villanova. Providence may have the tiebreaker over SJU at the moment? Providence seems like a more favorable matchup at this point. That Nova game could be The Hall's chance to get this bid. It's that simple.

Winner of the PC/VU game this Saturday will be in the race for 5th. St. John's likely gets to 11-9. Don't want to see them a third time.

Only way we get third is if Creighton loses its final two (may not seem likely but it's possible) and we go 2-1 down the stretch.

Providence:
vs. Villanova
@ Georgetown
vs. UConn
Figure they go 2-1 or 1-2

Villanova:
@ Providence
@ Seton Hall
vs. Creighton
They are the major variable in all of this. They could go anywhere from 3-0 to 0-3.

St. John's:
@ DePaul
vs. Georgetown
It would be stunning if they don't go 2-0.

There's a very small possibility Xavier could get to 11-9 as well. They are @ Georgetown, @ Butler, and home vs. Marquette. Would have to run the table there. Doesn't seem likely at all, but stranger things have happened.

The nightmare scenario for Seton Hall is a 1-2 finish and a loss on Thursday at MSG. That would make a NCAA bid a long shot IMO. As you said, the Villanova game is HUGE. Seton Hall MUST win that game (ideally) or the first round game at MSG (assuming a loss at UConn and a win vs. DePaul).

Should we beat Villanova and St. John's wins two then they have the tiebreaker over Villanova. Plus, Villanova finishes with Creighton. No walk in the park there. Providence better beat Villanova this weekend. Their last game is hosting UConn. They go 2-1 and they finished tied with SJU most likely. They split the two games this season.

If PC and SJU both end up 11-9, (with PC beating Nova), they would have tie breaker over SJU bc of their win vs Marq, which SJU does not have. X also has an outsude shot of being 11-9, which could change things, for them in terms of beating out SJU ax well.

The UConn and Marquette wins are Seton Hall's season right now. Amazing how much difference one or two games can make. If Seton Hall didn't have those wins, it would be 9-8 in the league, scrapping to finish fifth at best, and not in the NCAA picture. The enormity of those wins cannot be understated.

We should have beat Creighton and Providence at home. Win those two games and we are just talking about seeding right now.

I had to laugh when they called a 5 second violation in the 2nd half tonight against Creighton. Seemed like they counted to 5 pretty quick.

13-7 and 4th place in the Big East has to get us in. No need for a win in the BET.

This reminds me of the 2018-19 season. We were in the NCAA conversation largely because of wins over Kentucky at MSG and at Maryland. The Big East was down that year and so there weren't many high quality wins on our resume.

Then we beat Marquette and Villanova at home to wrap up the regular season and then took out Marquette a second time in the BET semis before losing by two to 'Nova in the BET finals.

Again, this year we have two wins doing a lot of heavy lifting for an otherwise non-descript resume.

We played so poorly for a huge stretch of the BE. We’re 7-9 with 2 to play. If I recall Willard even brought McKnight iff the bench for a game given how awful we were in turning the ball over.

But we found ourselves, won those last two and had a fun run to the BET finale with that epic showdown against Marquette in the semis.
