ENFIELD, N.H. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to tournament play with three rounds of golf at the Dartmouth Invitational at Montcalm Golf Club, September 24-25.
Tournament Details:
DARTMOUTH INVITATIONAL
Host: Dartmouth College
Location: Enfield, N.H.
Course: Montcalm Golf Club
Course Vitals: Par-72, 6,829 yards
Dates: September 24-25, 2022
THE COURSE:
Montcalm was awarded a Golf Digest award in 2005 as one of the top 10 Best New Private Courses in the country and was again acknowledged in 2007 by the magazine as one of the Best in State. It continually receives rave reviews from members and guests who enjoy the complete privacy and exquisite beauty that is Montcalm. So just what is it that makes this 6,829-yard design so special?
The club itself is remote, and the course moves further away from civilization as soon as you hit your first tee shot. Adherence to the Donald Ross philosophy of maintaining as much of the land's natural character as possible required finding creative solutions for the varied terrain. While the natural layout could easily challenge a PGA professional, playability and challenges are ensured for golfers of all levels.
THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Dartmouth, the small field includes six other schools: Binghamton, Cornell, Holy Cross, Middlebury, Saint Joseph's and Siena.
Pennsylvania, with former Seton Hall head coach Clay White at the helm, is also in the field of 14.
THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.
THE LINEUP:
Here's the lineup the Pirates will be sending to New Hampshire…
- Wenliang Xie, Senior
- George Fricker, Freshman
- Brody Hanley, Junior
- Angus O'Brien, Sophomore
- Wanxi Sun, Junior
Individual: David Lally, Freshman
LAST TIME OUT:
Junior Wanxi Sun (Danville, Calif.) fired a career-best 11-under-par to win the Alex Lagowitz Memorial and lift the Piratesa to the team championship on Sept. 4.
Sun put together his third consecutive sub-par round, using eight birdies to fuel a 2-under-par, 70, in Sunday's final round. For the tournament, he shot an 11-under-par, 67-68-60-205, to win the individual title by five strokes over the second-place finisher, Villanova's Ryan Palmer. Sun's 205 is tied for the second-lowest par-72, three-round score in program history. Furthermore, his 11-under-par is tied for the most strokes under par ever for a Pirate. It's Sun's first career win and second career top-5 finish.
Collectively, The Hall fired a 4-under-par, 284, in round three to complete one of the greatest tournaments in program history. The Pirates shot a 23-under-par, 277-280-284-841, to win the team title by 12 strokes over second-place Yale. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, Villanova, finished a distant 8-over-par.

The teams will play 18 holes on both Saturday and Sunday. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
