Chevron’s decision was lauded by the Reagan Administration back in the 80’s. When a regulation is ambiguous the Courts defer to Agency determination. These agencies are experts in their field. Medical, environmental etc. the theory being is that these people are not elected so they should not have that much power.
I dont get this decision The Reagan Administration was right then and the SC got it right. This is going to open up a whole lot of litigation it will also allow lobbyists to determine these rules. Not experts. Be careful what you wish for.
This has become an activist Supreme Court where legal precedent has been pushed to the side.
