I think there’s two issues here. Public perception and how the MSM spins it.
Over the last few years, people were paying more for groceries and essentials, and those prices never came down. And for many their wages just did not keep up. And you have the administration and press telling them that it was a great economy and inflation was at an all time low. You can’t tell people how to feel and then go to the grocery store.
I agree that there are many factors that affect the economy . Have no idea whether Trump’s plans will be successful or not, but there will be a public perception based on whether they can make ends meet.
And let’s face it, the MSM will not give Trump any credit even if we don’t see a slowdown .
I believe we are also watching history being made, Bitcoin is on a run to be the new Gold. Our economy is preparing for eventually shifting to digital currency. The rise of the coins is a direct result of a progressive thinking President. What happens in the next 4 years could reshape our world.
Trump cannot come quick enough, Democrats are trying now to set the stage to Sabotage his Presidency. Never thought we would see a political party trying to destroy America for political gain. Dems are absolutely the real threat to our democracy. Sweden is preparing their citizens for an attack. 4 years ago I called Biden a weak and feeble leader who would cause wars, death and destruction around the world. Sorry to say I was right.

I agree. The economy was strong, but there was some pain points for people and the administration never figured out how to message on that. It's a difficult task to be fair, but honesty would have been a good place to start.
“Some” pain points? Food, housing, energy…all stuff that the average family is getting killed. That seems a bit tone deaf.
Agree the messaging was awful. There was absolutely no empathy. Bragging about the best economy ever and then Harris claiming she would do nothing?
Depending on what the economy does going forward, will Trump do a better job messaging? Who knows?

Crypto is far more bullish in the near term than it would have been. Everyone here should have some exposure to Bitcoin. The long term upside is still gigantic. No more exposure than you're willing to lose but enough that you can just park it for 10-20 years.
Yes. Some pain points.
Getting "killed" would have been less government intervention causing a recession / depression with consumers spending less, and unemployment skyrocketing. That was the other option. The other option wasn't that we would get out of the pandemic and the economic impact of the Ukraine war without any pain at all.
That doesn't sell well to the American public because at the end of the day people only care about their personal situation.. but if we're being honest about the economy and how we got out of a period of very high inflation without causing a recession and high unemployment, it was a fairly good job overall. Things could have been far worse.

We got inflation back to a normal level. The economy is in a good spot to let the market work on it's own. The government should step in as needed, and right now, we don't need the government to take any actions to address costs.
At the end of the day, @SHUHoopsFan was right. The only question that matters to people is if they feel they are better of today than they were 4 years ago. Trump does a better job at messaging overall, but bad news is bad news. If the economy tanks, he's not going to be able to message his way out any better than Biden did.

If the economy tanks republicans will feel it if Hitler allows midterm elections to happen. SMH. But seriously, there was no messaging that was going to help Kamala other than to admit they did a bad job and offer a new vision. You can't undo peoples experiences. Most Americans have little to nothing in the stock market so telling them the economy is great look at the stock market means dog shit to them. Most Americans did get an increase in wages but not enough to cover the increase in utilities, rent, food, clothing, etc. People lived through that and because democrats made it better the last 3 months before the election, doesn't magically get people out of the hole they were in or forget their prior 3 years. People aren't stupid. The only ones who give into the messaging are the people who are economically well off because down turns in the economy don't crush them. Most people know what they lived through and know whether or not they've been better or worse. I'm curious how many of those super concerned about abortion, I mean reproductive rights, as their #1 issue struggle to make ends meet, put food on the table or keep the roof over their head? Are there people in this country more concerned about abortion than surviving economically? I think the best thing to come out of this election is people will stop worrying about messaging and hopefully worry about producing better results for the people and that in itself will get them elected regardless of messaging.
You missed my point. I think we all understand what led to the inflation and things that the administration tried to do to address it. But at the end of the day, it’s how people feel, and people feel like the administration is tone, deaf to what they are dealing. You can’t tell people that you’re doing a great job when their economic situation is worse.
Agree, we don’t know what will happen with Trump. He’ll have to deal with it like any President.
