Yes. Some pain points.
Getting "killed" would have been less government intervention causing a recession / depression with consumers spending less, and unemployment skyrocketing. That was the other option. The other option wasn't that we would get out of the pandemic and the economic impact of the Ukraine war without any pain at all.
That doesn't sell well to the American public because at the end of the day people only care about their personal situation.. but if we're being honest about the economy and how we got out of a period of very high inflation without causing a recession and high unemployment, it was a fairly good job overall. Things could have been far worse.
Because nothing is likely the correct answer.
We got inflation back to a normal level. The economy is in a good spot to let the market work on it's own. The government should step in as needed, and right now, we don't need the government to take any actions to address costs.

@SHUHoopsFan was right. The only question that matters to people is if they feel they are better of today than they were 4 years ago. Trump does a better job at messaging overall, but bad news is bad news. If the economy tanks, he's not going to be able to message his way out any better than Biden did.
