NEW YORK – Seton Hall graduate student Wenliang Xie, Burbank, Calif.) was named to the All-BIG EAST Men's Golf First Team and the Seton Hall coaches, led by head coach JT Harper, netted BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year as named by the BIG EAST Conference on Monday.

Xie is currently enjoying one of the greatest single-year golf efforts in Seton Hall history. In 10 tournaments during the 2023-24 academic year, he tallied six top-10 finishes, 15 sub-par rounds and six sub-par tournaments, all career-highs. At the Jack Grier Shocker Invitational last fall, Xie tied for third place at a remarkable 11-under-par. Most recently, Xie led Seton Hall to its second BIG EAST Championship in three years with an even-par, 70-74-72-216, which tied for third overall and earned him All-Tournament status.

Xie's 71.61 stroke average this year ranks second-lowest in Seton Hall history.

In only his second year at the helm, head coach JT Harper, along with assistants Gary Dunne and Ian Lagowitz, lifted Seton Hall to the BIG EAST Championship on April 29, despite being ranked fourth in the conference entering the event. Harper's Pirates enjoyed an incredibly successful season from the start, finishing third or better in six of their 10 tournaments, and are coming off back-to-back victories at the Shark Invitational and BIG EAST Championship. Collectively, the Pirates averaged 288.73 strokes per round this year, which ranks second-best in program history.

It's the second time in three years that Seton Hall has earned BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year.

Xie and the rest of the Pirates will return to the links on May 13-15 for three rounds of golf at the 2024 Rancho Santa Fe NCAA Regional at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
