I hope they add a starting caliber Big and/or a F with some size but right now I'd start my best players. After PG & Big, I think the other 3 positions are basically the same in today's game.

Staton-McCray, Simpkins, Fisher & Dal - 3 of them start and the 4th is the 6th man

1 - Clark
2 - Staton-McCray / Felton
3 - Simpkins / Rivera
4 - Fisher / Dar
5 - Payne / Godswill

I believe they had Macleab Rich in for a visit a couple of weeks ago. Don't know if he's still an option.

Thanks Fishjam for ruining what had been a nice day :) Now I will just go and sit in a dark room with no moving air.

There are two guarantees

Clark at PG and Godswill and Payne platooning the center spot. Not sure who will start tho.

High probability:

Staton-McCray starts at SG with his experience and shooting.

Fisher will start (hopefully at 3)

Fisher won’t start at the 4. Simpkins will come off the bench

We'll see, its far from a perfect roster. Have to pray Sha can pull a starter or 2 out of his hat.

We just can't afford to have offensive liabilities at both the 4 and the 5 with Payne and Godswill. That would be a repeat of last year's inept offense. Unless someone better appears I want 4 guys who can score on the floor with Payne/Godswill splitting the 5.

Are there any players in the NBA or Taxi squad who left college early and still have eligibility who could help? This should be allowed and not a problem since college kids are now pros and paid? I know the current rules are not allowing this but you have to ask why not? It makes no sense to take away eligibility if a kid goes into the NBA draft now and get drafted.

If they come back to college and attend classes to get their degree and want NIL money why not allow them?

Even kids who went overseas should be eligible.

Why have eligibility limits at all? Just destroy every rule because a judge interpreted it that way.

Godswill is much better than the 6’6 Payne

Interesting signing by UConn from one of the worst teams in D1 - LeMoyne. 6'8" Dwayne Koroma from Germany. Power Forward or Small-ball Big. Will be a deep bench piece, maybe a development player for Year 2 at UConn.

Was originally recruited to Iona by Pitino but didn't play much as a freshman and resurfaced this year with a solid season at LeMoyne. He was #2 in the entire country in eFG% at 71.8%, 11th in 2-pt FG% at 73.1%. Was #1 in the NEC in Offensive Rebounding % & Defensive Rebounding %. Will this be a scouting find for Hurley's staff?

UConn is also bringing in St Peter's guard Armoni Zeigler this week for a visit. Sounds like they are looking for 2-year players for deeper bench roles that they can develop. Cost-effective and gives you time to work with and develop guys. They are affordable now and will be affordable next year if they don't get a lot of minutes. If they go to a mid-major this year and have a good season, they'll be overpriced for their final year.

Partially related - big article in The Athletic today about a sea change in recruiting for college basketball talking about how Euro players are coming here for the $ and big programs are going after them hard.

Andrew Gaze came to SHU in 1989 for the NCAA Championship run.He is a national hero in Australia because of his international basketball accomplishments.Unquestionably,Mr Basketball in that country.

Have we recruited an Australian during the following 36 years?I don't remember one.St Marys Ca ,Utah and many others have.

What is wrong with us?How could we not mine that area of the world based on the Gaze success?Total incompetence.

I've been saying SH needs to be scouting Europe for about 2 years now. The Grad-Transfer & the 5th Covid Year have taught coaches that having older and more experienced players is a huge advantage. Bringing in 20-21 year old Europeans with Pro experience and 4 years of eligibility is the new area of the market to exploit. Like everything else, Seton Hall will realize this and get involved about 5-6 years too late.

Yup. Read this article. Very well researched. These euro developmental guys can get paid a lot more in US colleges than they can make as pros in Europe.

The transfer portal is pretty barren of PFs and Bigs. There are about 30 players left who were in the Top 750 of all transfers. Of those 30, Darrion Williams is likely to remain in the NBA draft and roughly 19 who are out of eligibility but applying for waivers.

Here is the list. Players listed as PF or C with their ranking and predicted Player Rating for next year. We were once involved with Justin McBride & Macaleab Rich. Maybe we bring Jonnivius Smith back if he gets his waiver? Considering many of the players listed as Seniors won't be eligible, pretty slim pickings. Need to find a European!!

We're learning the transfer portal is full of guys who are average ,at best, players. There's a reason they are transferring.

Not only Australia and Europe but also South America, Asia (China, India, Japan) should be included in the search for stud players! Brazil and Argentina are go to places for kids who have game. Untapped!
