I've been saying SH needs to be scouting Europe for about 2 years now. The Grad-Transfer & the 5th Covid Year have taught coaches that having older and more experienced players is a huge advantage. Bringing in 20-21 year old Europeans with Pro experience and 4 years of eligibility is the new area of the market to exploit. Like everything else, Seton Hall will realize this and get involved about 5-6 years too late.

You and me both dude. I mean how can the staff not leverage a guy like Arturas who undoubtedly has contacts in Europe. Pitino supposedly flew out to Italy to watch a kid play. A school like Seton Hall should be all in on finding European guys.

And the UCONN addition is interesting, thanks for the info behind that. Sure, NIL makes things difficult - how many other business industries are difficult though and the innovators find a way to succeed? Don't tell me it can't be done.

With today's tech you don't have to spend much money. Just use Chatgpt or any AI software to find you a center or power forward that is available to play in the US and meets your requirements. Within seconds you will get a list of names, stats, Bio and contact info.

You don’t think Godswill is better than Payne???
The statement was Godswill is much better than Payne. I don't think that's true, I think they are very similar type players. Right now it looks like they may split the 40 minutes at the 5.

I don't know enough about Payne other than highlight snippets and looking at analytics. But it looks like he and Godswill are the same type of player.

They are rim-runners. Limited offensively to offensive rebounds and getting set up for rim finishes. Payne listed as 6'9" 220 pounds, Godswill listed as 6'9" 214 pounds. Payne is much better statistically, obviously at a much lower level in the Atlantic Sun. I'd say Payne is better offensively, slightly better rebounding and defense is a push. Godswill has a much better chance to improve as a 2nd year player than Payne moving up a level as a Senior.

Offense
- Payne is better in nearly all offensive categories.
- Payne 106.6 O-Rating, 18.3% Shots. Per 40 minutes averaged 15.8 pts - 11.9 rebounds
- Godswill 93.8 O-Rating, 11.7% Shots. Per 40 minutes averaged 7.9 pts - 8.1 rebounds
- SH Team O-Rating was 88.7 with Godswill on floor, 99.8 with him off the floor (-11.1)
- Jax Team O-Rating was 107.0 with Payne on floor, 105.6 with him off floor (+1.4)
- Both take a lot of their shots at the Rim. Godswill 75%, Payne 67%
- Both have no Offense beyond the RIm. Godswill shot 29.4% from the Field beyond 4 feet from the Rim, Payne was a bit better at 38%.
- Payne is good in transition and very good at putbacks. Also draws a good amount of fouls and had a high And1 rate. He misses far too many layups for a big (51.7 FG%) So does Godswill (48.8%)
- Payne is a much better FT shooter - 63% over 92 career games. Godswill shot 30.2%!!

Rebounding
-
Payne is a better rebounder by all metrics. He's especially active on the offensive glass ranking 32nd in Nation
- Godswill 9.6% offensive rebs, 16.1% defensive - 8.1 per 40 minutes
- Payne 14.2% offensive rebs, 18.8% defensive - 11.9 per 40 minutes
- Seton Hall had better Team rebounding with Godswill on the bench (-6.0%)
- Jax Team rebounding was much stronger with Payne on the floor (+6.0%)

Defense
- Similar defensive stats except Payne gets a lot more steals
- Payne 4.8% Blk, 3.1% Steals. 3.8 Blocks + Steals per 40 minutes. 0.6 DBPM
- Godswill 5.0% Blk, 0.5% Steals. 1.8 Blocks + Steals per 40 minutes. 0.4 DBPM
- Our Team D-Rating was 1.2 better with Godswill on floor.
- Jax Team D-Rating was 1.1 better with Payne on floor
