Willard On Zags/Josh Newman podcast

A reader who does not post sent me this in an email. I can't verify it because I never saw the original story before it was partially deleted. If anyone did please correct this info or verify it.

This was the tweet before it was deleted:

Kevin Willard on Gibbs/ Sina transferring: "Some guys can handle [the pressure] and some guys can't."

If you listen to the podcast , Willard's comment came at the end of a long-winded answer about recruiting New York and New Jersey area guys. Zagoria had asked him about how their departure would impact recruiting.

It's a stretch to say Willard was referring to those guys. Any decent journalist would have presented the entire question and response and let readers draw their own conclusions.

This was beyond being taken out of context, it was Zags prefacing the Tweet with "Kevin Willard on Gibbs/ Sina transferring", which is egregious and irresponsible. I don't pay attention to Zags and don't typically read anything of his prior to this, but I now see the basis for all the negative comments towards him.

I don't care what he says at this point. It really doesn't matter anymore. Just be in charge of a fine tuned team that wins lots of games. Try that------- just once.
Yup, that's pretty much it. Just win...very little else matters

I read the comments above which made it sound like he was putting his foot in his mouth. After listening, I agree that it was a solid(For Willard) interview. Zags continues to prove what a terrible writer he is lol
There is a difference between being terrible and being a liar.

So then if both Delgado and Whitehead play up to a level that garners enough attention by NBA scouts to leave next year and are drafted by the NBA, you're (setonball46 and Piratz) telling us that SHU BB will have a bad season. I don't know what they are snorting but if IW and AD play to that level I believe SH BB will have a pretty good season.

If Whitehead and Delgado have big seasons, I do think we could be a good team. The model I'm looking at for next season is 2005-06 with those two playing Copeland/Whitney maybe.

Willard's offseason comments are the same every year. It's like a broken clock; maybe he'll be right this year. He loves the roster, loves the depth, great teammates, etc... Blah blah blah

I listened to the podcast and Willard was fine. Zags' Tweet was a tad misleading, but still an odd thing for Willard to say.

Obviously this is being explored due to the presence of the Brooklyn players on the roster.

translation: it will most likely be against a shitty team. The only reason for the game is to have one in BK for the players, not to have a strong OOC neutral site game. weak...and typical. Man, does Willard need to fired or what?

Crappy team or not, still cool to have a game in Brooklyn. MSG prior to the BET would be nice too (cue to the thread on how Carnesecca Arena sucks, LOL)!

Better not be LIU or St. Francis of Brooklyn. My guess is that it will probably be Manhattan. My ideal opponent would be Temple.
