Are you guys gonna still post on the board once the season starts? Gonna be weird since you won’t be watching the games.
I don’t think that’s at all what he said. It’s just that if you are used to watching basketball one way (at a faster pace), and have no familiarity at all with the players or teams, the WNBA can be a tough watch.
People love NFL football but no one watched the XFL because they had no interest in a product that wasn’t nearly the same with no familiarity added in. There are also people who will much rather watch soccer from overseas rather than MLS.
NYSG can’t grasp the concept of supply and demand, and a free market economy.
Can’t wait for the first game thread post our team kneelling from the above posters who aren’t going to watch.....

So from your perspective a group of women that play in an organized sports league shouldn't have a voice because historically their live gate is underwhelming and/or its a problem that their voice clashes with your views on something.

Amazing, what a sad and sexist display that reply is. These irrelevant basketball players have won every gold in olympics since 96 and gold at world the last 3 events held. In 2019 wnba had a 64 percent increase in viewership from prior season

Holly Rowe tweets this is not accurate...so espn appears to have been wrong on this tweet for 10 hours and 4m views. Holly reported this evening that both teams elected to stay in locker room during the anthem.

WNBA used to be more on my radar as I like the sport of basketball at all levels and followed the Liberty in the Lobo/Tspoon era a tad. Also liked Becky Hammon.

What they did was disgraceful...and this is ALL they wanted...for people to be talking about them. Good PR move...
You can't hide from sports related controversy. And this was a different take than before so it deserves the thread here.
How people respond dictates whether it gets moved or not. So far without political comment it has stayed here as the debate has been above board short of one deletion I had to make.

So blame the fake news. I watch CBS local news every night and they never report Liberty scores or show footage. Last night they reported them walking off the court and showed both teams doing it. 1) Fake news; 2) Supports the fact that the only way for WNBA to get media attention as attendance is way down.
But they are not having any attendance this season. I dont believe you. I am sure in spring and summer in a normal year the Liberty game result would get mentioned and if other more prominent teams are off, likely also get a few play highlight.
2018 to 19 attendance was down 12%. Only two teams averaged 10k. There has been virtually no sports to report so now more than ever they should be getting air time for highlights. I don’t watch ESPN, but do they show any WNBA highlights? I doubt it.
Now you’re just being disparaging of women’s sports in general. Absolutely shameful sexism, but not entirely unexpected as one -ism in someone usually accompanies others.
Come on man, ESPN is the lead national broadcaster of the league, Sabrina debut plus other games of course SportsCenter showed/shows highlights
