so the big lbsu kid missed the 2nd half with his left foot in an air cast/boot, so willard said postgame he didn't play delgado down the stretch because sanogo and mike nzei matched up better against their front line; but delgago is the reigning big east rookie of the year and best low post offensive player, if you gave him post up chances

At this point Ish deserves minutes, but to have Nzei in there instead of Delgado is a head scratcher. How about YOU create a mismatch Willard?!?...

By the post game threads, it's crazy to think a decent amount of folks on this board had EXPECTATIONS!... Silly you...

I have said it numerous times, KW is apparently a phenomenal assistant coach. He should go back to that. Some guys are just not cut out to be the lead dog. No shame in that whatsoever, be the best at what you do best...

Delgado had his worst game as a pirate tonight.
I didn't watch most of game, but based on what I heard, I was wondering if Willard's had enough balls to sit angel. Something has to wake him up. Seemed like he was out rebounded or getting dunked on based on Cohen's call.

Delgado sas awful tonight He deserved to be on the bench. He's just not the same player he was last year. Very disappointing.

It must break the other kids' hearts to see a kid so important to come back in bad shape and not ready.

As much as I think Willard is a terrible coach and his handling of the players, he had to bench Delgado.AD
was getting abused on the court, dunked on, out rebounded and out hustled in every way. Up to the last few minutes where IW tried putting the team on his back, the best players tonight were Gordon, Desi, Ish and Nezi

Sal - Gordon played some good defense but essentially cost us the game, down the stretch.

Desi and Ish were good. Ish was a fantastic help defender but a terrible on the ball defender. Nzei had a good minute and a half offensively on putbacks was also weak defensively.

Whitehead tried to do what he could, was sensational at times, ordinary at other times. That's what happens when thecrest of your program is in neutral.

A lot of points about the offense have been made but the game was lost on the defensive end. I honestly can't think of one player who stood out on that side. Some were more active than others but many of those players had massive breakdowns or were out of position from time to time leading to easy buckets. And some just took up space and got their minutes.

Sports are all about creating mismatches - 2 on 1's, quicker players against slower, bigger against smaller, etc. Willard never coaches to create mismatches, only to prevent them. He is always on the defensive and always trying to outsmart the other coach.

Sometimes it's simple - we are going to put our biggest player and best low post scorer on the block and we are going to feed him the ball and see Of you can stop him. Delgado has been off his game, so last night may not have been the best situation for this, but for 5 years we have seen the same thing - coaching decisions based on preventing mismatches instead of creating them. Sometimes the simplest strategy is the best one.
