Rainbows and sunshine Rothstein weighs in:
Should drop down to D-3 immediately for a few years until the NCAA can get this crap under control.
We need more of this. More public embarrassment. History has shown that Seton Hall has its head in the sand…they need to be publicly called out…
Felt sent out that email a few weeks ago saying Seton Hall wants Big East and National championships (students and alumni certainly do, not quite sure about Felt) in their athletic programs (I took that to mean ALL Seton Hall athletic programs, not just men’s basketball). Has Felt or the university ever actually discussed a plan as to how they will accomplish that? Will they ever share that plan with the rest of us?Captain Obvious, but this is the cross roads we are at. Anyone know what the hell Pat Lyons and Bryan Felt are doing besides sending out emails to fans and alums with buzzwords and BS? Their careers are on the line.
I mean it’s their own fault for saying it but this is just ridiculous and not the issue hereFelt sent out that email a few weeks ago saying Seton Hall wants Big East and National championships (students and alumni certainly do, not quite sure about Felt) in their athletic programs (I took that to mean ALL Seton Hall athletic programs, not just men’s basketball). I think we all know the answer to that.Felt sent out that email a few weeks ago saying Seton Hall wants Big East and National championships (students and alumni certainly do, not quite sure about Felt) in their athletic programs (I took that to mean ALL Seton Hall athletic programs, not just men’s basketball). Hard to say, but that email was pretty clearly a "we have to do something without really doing or saying anything" missive. As hollow a communications piece as I can recall.Felt sent out that email a few weeks ago saying Seton Hall wants Big East and National championships (students and alumni certainly do, not quite sure about Felt) in their athletic programs (I took that to mean ALL Seton Hall athletic programs, not just men’s basketball). Classic corporate/institutional bafflegab.Hard to say, but that email was pretty clearly a "we have to do something without really doing or saying anything" missive. As hollow a communications piece as I can recall.
Exactly! Felt is telling us everything he knows we all want and want to hear but, unless drastic changes are made, he has no desire to put in the effort needed to accomplish those goals.People say they want a lot of things, but don't know how to get those things or don't want to do what it takes to get those things.
These letters make it hard to shake the impression that the problem isn’t a lack of desire or commitment to being good, like Rothstein said. It’s a lack of people who are competent enough to get it done.Classic corporate/institutional bafflegab.
The Hypemaster General speak out?I think the back breaker would be if Fanta spoke out. Unlikely given his role as a broadcaster, but I’m sure he is as depressed as the rest of us with the state of his Alma mater.
Your last point is what I always question. If people assume we drop down to the MAAC we would be instantly top dog that is really not the case. We don’t even have a MAAC level gym to play in. After watching guys like Fuquan,Whitehead, Khadeen, Desi, Angel, Ish, Powell, Rhoden, Mamu, Dawes, Dre, Richmond play for the past 10+ years, who’s going to MAAC games? How about Bob Ley speaking out, or is too enmeshed in the current and historic culture?
Only bright spot of last night was listening to Phil Martel with Fanta. Had the color guy been the very direct and sometimes unfiltered Lappas---- whom I like---- he would have, rightfully, skewered us.
If NCAA tries to establish spending limits, the power five who can afford unlimited expenditures will bolt. There is nothing sacrosanct about the NCAA. Look at the heretofore iconic PGA.
And, finally, IF we did submerge to D-3 or even the MAAC, we'd be comfortable there in mid pack.
Which goes to the question … do you support the name on the front or back of the uniform?Your last point is what I always question. The 90% or more drop in revenue should allow us to quickly drop back to the pack.Your last point is what I always question. Students? GMAFB...The only thing worse than the game was looking at the Student section.... (students and alumni certainly do, not quite sure about Felt...

This sounds like our next fundraising tactic...Bingo!
Well, we are a catholic school after all! Not like it hasn’t been done before! This sounds like our next fundraising tactic...
Both. Most of the past decade it was fun being a SHU fan and a big part of the fun was rooting for talented players wearing the SHU uniform.Which goes to the question … do you support the name on the front or back of the uniform?
