It is a growing trend. Nova has it. Duke has it. We will likely adapt to the model in five years after we watch what others do.!!!!
Lots of rich guys I know have stuff that if I bought it I would need my head handed to me.

People with connections and a love for the school who should be good at raising revenue (donations) and engagement from the fan base. People like Woj and Dana O'Neill obviously have extensive journalism experience and will be adept at communicating the message to fans/alumni. AND, you need someone to handle the NIL negotiations with transfers and current players. This is full-time work and should not be handled by the Head Coach who has enough on his plate.
Getting Dana at Nova and Woj at St Bonaventura is huge. Thankfully we have Fanta who donates a lot of time to our NIL events and Bob Ley who donates his time and money to build the Center for Sports Media. Imagine if someone at that level joined our team.
By the way, Peter King was announced as a Professor at the Center for Sports Media.

I predict all schools will have a GM dedicated to men's basketball within the next 5 years.

I have much respect for a guy who walks away from a 3 year $20 million deal to return to his alma mater.
The position is "'entry-level, behind the scenes, and exempt from overtime." I was wondering where these "GM" positions would fall in the athletic department hierarchy. From what it sounds like it's almost like an assistant coach or director of basketball operations level position that takes some of the pressure off the HC in recruiting and coordinating NIL.
One of the major challenges for Saint B’s is to clearly define what authority he has in this position verses others in the athletic department in order to avoid any conflict about who has the final say in the decision making process.
