There are 10 million arrests each year, how many unarmed men are killed?
55, 14 of which were black.

As usual. This guy nails it.But they are kneeling in protest against cops but what about the domestic abuse, drug use, alcohol use and pro athletes that have killed people. It’s just sad and soft served!
That's a league decision not players union as to which apparel company outfits the uniformsAs usual. This guy nails it.
I have no problem with people who want to do something about social injustice, but if you're kneeling during the 2 minutes of the anthem and doing nothing about it the other 23 hours and 58 minutes of the day it's meaningless. The comedy of it all last night is you have intelligent grown men kneeling for social injustice while wearing Nike gear. You can't make this stuff up.
The sad part about last night is all offseason I'm watching classic games and seeing Lee Greenwood come out to sing God Bless the USA in 2001 and now having to see the difference between then and now is just sad.
Really if the league got KKK approved on all the jerseys, you think the players would be silent about it?That's a league decision not players union as to which apparel company outfits the uniforms

That is a mignty radical reach that is ignorant because it will never happen, go take your unhappiness to the commissioner. This was actually to UA but they backed out 4 years ago.Really if the league got KKK approved on all the jerseys, you think the players would be silent about it?
I have concerns about oppression anywhere. However I am a US citizen and most care about my own backyard first.Wokeboy the ultimate social justice warriors only for oppressed in America. Who cares is slave labor is outfitting his Nike polo shirt, they're not shitting in his yard.
Because underarmour backed out of a deal with MLB, I guess we all should just accept Nike. That is a mignty radical reach that is ignorant because it will never happen, go take your unhappiness to the commissioner. This was actually to UA but they backed out 4 years ago.
I wish I understood how your brain worked. Nike is a US company. I'll say it again. It's a US company. Instead of employing US citizens, they take their jobs overseas. In order to care about your backyard first, you should know what is in your backyard. You don't even know what's in your backyard. They can use modern day slave labor to take jobs away from US citizens and that's not in your backyard.I have concerns about oppression anywhere. Look at the labor practices Qatar is using to build 2022 WC venues. I dont agree with it. I am pretty sure ESPN OTL did an embedded story on it a few years back.
I feel it would be a good longform or ongoing discussion for a platform like sbj, sportico or front office sports to broach, MLB are you comfy being in a 10 year deal in this climate knowing how the worn items are made and where they are manufactured and by who. Commissioner Selig always said he believes MLB is a social instiution.Because underarmour backed out of a deal with MLB, I guess we all should just accept Nike.
So again, Halldan creates a thread topic that was bound to make its way to LOTS.
Others that replied on here did so with politicized intentions.
A united gesture gets twisted into symbolism of the left dem liberal class.
Moreso, my take on the demo of this board is not racist. It is true we have middle age to senior citizen white males with particular beliefs that won't change. Now is everyone like that? No i feel seton75, merge, hallline69 and some others are reasonable and fair minded people. Most of this group will not be returning to pro team sports as viewers because they feel athletes should be emotionless droid bots only. I believe it is good for all of humanity that people want to symbolically stand for something. Another poster here said their father using sports watching as a distraction from reality. But the partcipants that allow your father to watch are very real humans who have feelings they want to express.
BTW i am sure there are plenty who kneeled yesterday will kneel today and other athletes who kneel going forward who will still vote republican red as well.

Once again you start the wambulance when people call you on your BS.
GM is a US company, Chevy is as American a car make that there is. GM discontinued a specific part for my vehicle. I still needed the part. An aftermarket company had the part. It saddened me to see Made in China but I had no choice.I wish I understood how your brain worked. Nike is a US company. I'll say it again. It's a US company. I think that was a big thing in late 90s early 2000s the retail market value of something with a logo on it. All brands do the same. Steph Marbury had a sneaker line for far less once and many felt a certain way about it.And they sell the sneakers for hundreds of dollars over cost to many peoole who cannot afford them, but must have them as a social status.

I dont believe seton75, hallline69 and merge agree in every facet of hoops, culture and society as i do but i know they are fair minded folks.Notice how he lists three posters by name who agree with him. Again, inclusive and welcoming *only when you agree*!
Nice deflection, but what does any of that have to do with Nike taking thousands of jobs away from people in your own backyard?GM is a US company, Chevy is as American a car make that there is. It is sad dsy to me when any company only sees profit margin as the lead item on its goals list. I am not advocating Nike. I really wonder what the outcry woild be from many here if there is a time down the road when SHU ever goes back to them. No donations, no more attending games for some to most I would imagine.Nice deflection, but what does any of that have to do with Nike taking thousands of jobs away from people in your own backyard?

Shu09 do you believe that every last athlete that kneels yesterday today or in the future has never or will never vote republican?Everyone who contributes to discussions on this board is fair minded, except for Bobbie Solo. I even consider you fair minded.
It's a sad day, but you don't seem to be as concerned about your backyard as you want us all to believe. I would think if you were as concerned about your backyard as you want us to believe, you might be leading the charge of no donations, no attending games, boycotting Nike.It is sad dsy to me when any company only sees profit margin as the lead item on its goals list. Phil Knight so woke he uses kids to get rich
Shu09 do you believe that every last athlete that kneels yesterday today or in the future has never or will never vote republican?
Because there are certain posters here that seek to politicize every action that anyone does. People here want sports as a distaction with no stances shown. I am sure some to most athletes want to show expression without others commentating on if a gesture was liberal or left or woke. When teams celebrate mem day vets day july 4th, returning active duty military, vets are they expressing good patriotic conservative values.
Kniepolice early in this thread connected that conservatives watch sports more than liberals and they and he don't want to see any social messages. But arent my examples above social messages too?

As long as we're getting paid off of social injustices, it's ok. DUH Stop using logic. This is a new world where logic doesn't exist. Then why do they not PROTEST it!!! You know, social injustice.
Geesh. SMFH.
I would say my opinion aligns more with data and inference than the concept that I despise older caucasian males.
Everyone who contributes to discussions on this board is fair minded, except for Bobbie Solo. I even consider you fair minded.
I think most here are fair minded. All of the players kneeling to show unity towards the issue, and then standing for the anthem is about as ideal of a response as I can think of in the current environment.
The direction of this thread though shows some fair minded people may not be fair minded on all issues.
If you decide to protest one issue, protesting all issues is not a requirement. whataboutism doesn't add anything here.
People on this board have argued about kneeling during the anthem ad nauseam. If they were upset then AND upset now, all of those original arguments had very little to do with the anthem/flag.
I had no problem with the kneeling at the yankee game. I don't like that MLB put the BLM stamp on the back of the mound, but that alone is not going to get me to stop watching.
BLM is run by trained Marxist who apparently spend 71% of all donations on salaries, benefits, and consultants.
As for what aboutism...Did the world stop caring about everything except blacks killed by cops?
as anyone, anywhere had a thought about other injustices in our country or in the world?
could be wrong, but we have probably thousands of people being shot at, and the whole world is focused on police reform when 99% of all cops are doing good for their communities. Maybe I need to get my head examined but that makes no sense to me. I must be the crazy one.
As for what aboutism
That is the typical response by people who get called out for focusing on a problem that data shows is pale in comparison to others.
Have you ever been to a sporting event where they have a moment of silence for something?
Did you interrupt that moment of silence to yell "Yeah, but other stuff is worse"?
Same concept here.
I'm amazed that people still think there is racial inequality in America in 2020. Just doesn't fit with my experience.
