Funny --and insightful--post from the Rutgers Board

Pretty interesting metaphor this guy posted. Two highly expensive lottery picks and what has it really bought them so far? Not that I feel bad for them because they are after all Rutgers.

Maryland…

"Starting with the 2025-26 season, we will be sharing the maximum-allowable amount of $20.5M with our student-athletes, with the vast majority of it going to our revenue-producing sports – football, men's basketball and women's basketball. This level of investment attests to our enduring commitment: to compete for conference and national championships."

Mark Zuckerberg….
"The only way that we can push back on this global trend is with the support of the U.S. government, and that's why it's been so difficult over the past four years, when even the U.S. government has pushed for censorship," Zuckerberg added. "By going after us and other American companies, it has emboldened other governments to go even further."

Dana White joining the Meta Board and we’re still two weeks from inauguration.

And Musk’s acquisition of Twitter seems like a pretty smart move these days.

Popkin is entering his 22nd year as the color commentator and back-up play-by-play announcer for Seton Hall men's basketball. Popkin is also entering his 25th year as the TV voice of the Northeast Conference and has called college basketball for most of the local schools and conferences. He is the creator and co-host of Crashing the Boards, a weekly college hoops talk show on FOX Sports Radio New Jersey.

Cohen, well-known in the area as the play-by-play voice of the New York Mets on SNY, is one of the most respected and accomplished play-by-play announcers in the nation. Cohen recently completed his 36th year broadcasting Mets baseball, 19 seasons on television and 17 on the radio. In addition, the Queens native and Columbia University graduate was the radio voice of St. John's basketball from 1995-2002. On a national level, Cohen has also called baseball broadcasts for CBS and ESPN Radio & has handled play-by-play duties for CBS Radio & Westwood One for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

Alongside Cohen and Popkin is radio engineer Mike Infantino, who is in his 36th season working broadcasts for Seton Hall men's basketball games.

John summed up SHU’s offense in one sentence: they have no one to throw the ball into (down low) and no one who can throw the ball.

He also accurately observed the problems with NIL. The guys you bring in and pay sometimes don’t pan out. That describes us and also RU’s supporting cast around Ace and Harper.

What a great podcast. John knows his stuff and he’s one of ours.
