Game Thread: Seton Hall vs. UCONN

And no turnovers
A big reason he has no turnovers is because he does little to initiate offense for others beyond acting as the designated in-bounds passer or passing to Coleman off designed screen action.

I’m not sh&$ing on the kid. He is playing better than he did when he basically had DNPs. But think about that - on this squad.

Maybe my expectations were too high preseason but I expected more. Not writing him of at all. But I judge our players like I would if they were on another team. No one here would be touting Dual the PG if he was on Uconn, Nova, St Johns etc.

Positive is we have nothing to play for so we are going to get as good a look as we can at what he can do, and hopefully the games are competitive like today because it’s hard to read much if anything from the blowouts.

Yes but he’s still doing nothing to initiate offense. Active hands and length on D like he always has and can make a midrange. Doesn’t make others better like we want in a PG. I was higher on him than anyone preseason so rest of year we still need to give him tons of run so we can see what we truly have.
He had 6 of the team's 7 assists last game. He hot big shots today. He made a few good decisions today and the shots were missed. He needs to be stronger going to the basket and create contact, but he is improving each game imo.

First double double for Godswill

Honestly, for a freshman — especially one who missed most of his senior year of high school and who has only been playing the game for a few years — he’s really improved by leaps and bounds over the course of the year. He’s a keeper — I hope.
Besides the Portal we may want to zero in on some high school Seniors in the 2025 class?? Felton did not show up in the stat sheets, but I thought he brought some stability to the court during his minutes. Good to see both guys on the court as first year players.

Great Win!!!

They played well and the stat line was impressive with free throws and turnovers. Fantastic trapping of inbound plays at crunch time. Something is missing from this year's UConn team.
Their last two teams had NBA players at Center. And an NBA player at PG.

This team doesn’t.

Although their two headed C monster is certainly solid and way better than what we have. It’s not Klingan and Sanogo.

Diarra healthy isn’t at Newton’s level, and he was hobbled against us (kudos to him for getting through it because Hurley was clearly trying to avoid playing him at all). Mahaney is in Hurley’s dog house - hasn’t worked out and the talented freshman isn’t ready for the level Uconn plays at.

That’s the difference. Because even with him slumping I still love Karajan. McNeeley is a lottery pick stud and Ball can shoot the heck out of it.

Great Win!!!

How the hell did we win this game with everything that’s happened this year. Great job by Sha and his staff and of course a great job by the players.
The returns of Addae-Wusu and Middleton made such a difference. We were competing before those two and Jenkins went out; we really weren’t getting thrashed before that. Losing. But usually not embarrassingly so.

Great Win!!!

Hope we gain some confidence and pull out a few more wins.
Shocked at how incompetent UCONN was getting the ball in bounds at the end.

Shame on all who said Dylan is not a BE player. Certainly not a starter on good teams, but c'mon....

The non call on Solo at the end might still become assault and battery.
Especially since they had about eight seconds every time they inbounded.

First double double for Godswill

He's got a lot of potential. If can he develop 1-2 post moves and get good at them, he may be a reliable starter in time.

The light seems to be on now with him, which can happen with freshmen in February. Plus he missed last year with the broken foot (I think that was the injury). Last 2 games:

28 minutes at Georgetown: 4/5, for 8 points and 7 rebounds, 1 BLK, 2 TO, 4 PF playing Sorber.
38 minutes vs. Connecticut: 5/9 for 12 points and 10 rebounds, 2 BLK, only 2 PF playing Johnson/Reed.

And the injuries also gave Dual the ability to get comfortable.

Of course having those guys helps. We aren’t good with them and we aren’t good without them. But we are better with them. We win 3 or 4 in a row and I will start thinking we’ve improved in a meaningful way as a team beyond the normal course of kids getting better throughout a season.

An upside if a year like this is that on our past teams GEH never sees the floor and now he’s had a few solid outings in a row. So that’s good.

But, we have been saying we can't really compete or win without Wusu, Middleton and Jenkins. The teqn has been improving and Wusu was a key today. As was Middleton.
