Coleman on the move?

Aside from the optics of losing our best player again, I don't feel anywhere the sense of loss that I have in previous episodes. First, he's not as good as some of those other guys. Second, unless he is still hampered by the injury that kept him out of the lineup at Creighton (which may well be the case), he's not been as good nor worth the type of money someone of his attendant hype will probably require. And if he's not giving us any home team discount (and again, I have no idea if he would or not), I'd feel fine rolling the dice on someone else at a similar price point.

In a perfect world, I'd like to keep him. Let me be clear about that. But not at any price, even one within our budget. He's a goof player. But he is not irreplaceable.

Last Night

I don’t like the dumb placards or walking out. But let’s get real. This lack of decorum started with the Republicans. With the “you lie” shout at Obama’s State of the Union and the constant heckling of Joe Biden during his speech.

I don’t think it does any good. You want to sit there is silence that’s fine. But, to those crying about what happened last night, did you criticize Republicans when they showed childish behavior during Obama and Biden?
The whatabout police will be all over you,

Personally I don't care about the shouting, the signs, etc. Not applauding a 13 year old kid who survived brain cancer??? Are you kidding me?

Coleman on the move?

What happened to our supposed NIL increase that is supposed to prevent us from once again losing our best player? Changes in our administration are needed! The only thing they do is try to blow smoke up our a $$ that everything is just fine while they continue to destroy our program!
Not exactly sure but possibly they don't think $750K+ is a good investment for a 2G that shoots 38% from the field & 31% from 3.

Shaka Smart

I just got back from a short trip to Maryland & Virginia and the rumor mill is rather busy down there. There's quite a bit of noise on the coaching search for UVa. Mentioned are Ryan Odom from VCU, Mark Byington from Vandy, Bob Richey from Furman and, supposedly the leader, Shaka Smart from Marquette. Hmmm, he knows the area, coached VCU for 6 seasons, will get a bump of over a million $$ in salary per year-- Does this have legs?? Anybody hear anything??

Holloway

Very interesting if you listen to D Marshall during the telecast. He is very tight with Sha. Obviously raved about his ability to coach and lead men but last night said that the fans support is there, the new facility is done, great coach, great market , history of consistency and that the Administration needs to step up.
Carino said the same thing on his Jersey Jump Shot last week. And he knows SHU about as well as any outsider.

I’m not saying you are. I’m saying people talk out of their a$$ all the time with this NIL stuff - I’m sure you are just posting what you heard. I’m friends with lots of folks connected to the NJ prep basketball scene, high level at both the Catholic and Public schools. I hear all kinds of conflicting stuff. For example I posted over the summer that I was told Big Cliff was lured out of the portal by one team only to have SEC and Big 12 schools basically blow that team out of the water where they couldn’t come close to affording or offering what those football schools were putting up. And that Big Cliff # seems “light” compared to what’s getting floated now.

Nova/Gtown

That’s the rumor now. Before the season it wasn’t with an exception or two. When you go back to the summer posts, the numbers even on the high end were being talked about differently, and that’s with stuff from the Trilly discord.

I think there is lots of misinformation out there.

I also think that when a school, coach, fan base etc has a tough year, and easy narrative to further to offset that is the NIL piece. And so I think rumors and numbers start to grow like wildfire.

Coleman on the move?

If true, it's very disappointing. I was hoping (and still am) that he might be that one player for the Hall who bucks the recent trend and stayed a career Pirate. Probably again, we'll never know what he is going to make somewhere else, what Coach Sha's actual budget is for 2025-26, and at what cost Coach Sha had Coleman evaluated for next year. Without this information, frankly, it's impossible for me to provide any critique of Coleman's decision to leave. Totally agree with bornApirate, though, don't drag this out. The earlier we have a decision, the better it allows the coach to implement his plan for next year.
