I saw a partial practice and posted in depth on the Trove. But frankly watching less than one practice is only going to give you a partial hint on what to expect.
The team is athletic and lightning quick.
Manny, who might be the starting center is injured and hasn't played for at least 2 weeks. The staff has said he will be baclk soon, but who knows what that means.
Yalden, another potential center has been slowed by an ankle injury and he was limited in the practice I saw. I do not think either player played against Maryland.
That leaves Toumi who is a PF, almost a stretch 4 to play the middle. Physical centers will be a tough matchup for him.
Godswill has potential but he is not ready yet.
That is all a major concern for the Pirates. The center position could be a major issue.
The guards and wings are talented but must develop chemistry. In the practice I saw Middleton and Addae-Wusu were the two best players. DAW ran the point on one team and excelled. Middleton played forward on the other team and I was impressed with his all around game. Especially his court vision and rebounding. Both are stellr defenders.
The two points, Dual and Harmon were OK but not in the class of Richardson who the Pirates are going to miss drastically. Dual is a bitch on defense. Flashy but needs consistency. Harmon has his moments too.
Coleman is slightly better than last year. Has improved his shooting and ball handling. And of course his D is stellar.
It was only less than 30 minutes and it was totally unexpected but Felton shot the eyes out of the ball. Hit 5 straight bombs and played physical.
Jenkins did not have a good practice, But then led the team in scoring in both exhibitions with 25 and 13 points respectively.
Aligbe and Tubek were both OK but did not stand out. My guess is of the two Aligbe, who is a bull, might get more minutes in the rotation.
Short view but that's what I saw.
