State of the Union After 3 Games

Do you want to go down to mid major league or be last or next to last in conference every year.I say go down a level so you hsve chance to be competitive in every game.UCONN,Creighton,Marquette,Xavier etc. beat us by 20 every year and you can get any seat you want at the Rock.Got to organize a league with all teams n same boat as us not competitive to play with the bug boys in NILcurrently 5 teams in BE in top 25 potentially 10 predictable in conference losses so i would say our realistic conference wins is 4/5.some posters saying anybody blaming NIL is a cry baby.We just lost our 2 top players to NIL so it is reality we can’t hope or explain away.

He deserves patience, but you can’t stack losses against bad teams. All the games matter. Even if Holloway manages to get the season turned around, we already have one and maybe two big black marks on the resume.
Ok - If the goal of the season is to make the tournament, the season is over. It would take a miracle to recover from these losses. We had really no bad losses last year, and had wins over UCONN and Marquette and did not make the tournament along with going 13-7 in Big East.

I'm afraid we'll look back in a number of years and realize the NIL is the demise of major college football and basketball. The sports are becoming mini professional leagues.I agree that eventually the conferences will need to be realigned on size of NIL budgets.Likely SHU will be in a Northeastern schools mid major type conference or back to pre Big East days.Won't be the end of the world.
The no sitout year is even worse. There is no yearly free agency in any major sport in this country.

Entering 2025 what is a good work wage/salary?

Not what the median is in this country but a good one?

Good = can pay rent/mortage, utilities, food costs, support 2 children, investments for future and engage in recreational activities

Hard to answer that with so many variables. Every situation and area of each state will be different.

I refinanced 8 years ago and I'm locked in to a 2.8% interest interest rate. That alone makes a world of difference. If someone bought my house from me, they would have to put down twice as much as I did and their monthly payment would be about $2k more than mine is now. So while I am able to live comfortably, a family shopping for a house now with the same income would not feel nearly as comfortable.

Don't over think it - we have no PG

Sha’s comment on the final play just verified everything I’ve been saying. There’s no basketball talent anymore.

It’s all analytic driven. “Getting to the hoop” is supposed to provide an easier close range layup attempt or a foul. If not, you shoot a 3.

That doesn’t work. What happened to designing plays and screen to free up a player for a mid range jumper? Or a back door layup? No we just barrel to the hoop praying the referee will call foul. Horrendous, unwatchable, talentless basketball.

Coleman is the only player on this team so far I’ve seen take 2 dribbles and pull up for a 8-10 foot jumper. The rest just want the highlight reel.

AAU, elite tournament circuits, Instagram and YouTube have destroyed the American basketball player.
Remember during the SPU Elite 8 run there was a total Xs and Os guy on twitter who was diagramming the incredible designed plays and offensive sets used to secure those huge upsets? How come we've never seen at any of that here?

Sha is trying to develop a Team that can compete against Big East Teams with a lack of high level talent. His model appears to be based on his Team going 8 to 10 deep so that we will have fresh legs on defense during the Big East schedule. Playing this number players in our first few games against weaker opponents is bound to result in the lack of consistancy, particularly on offense. Our opponents thus far had the advantage of having a core group of players with defined roles as opposed to Sha who is trying to develop a Team of 8 to 10 deep. Yes, that's an excuse but Sha is trying to develop a Team that can better compete during the long haul. That's the optomistic part of my post.

Now the negative part: Unless we can find wealthy benefactors to fund NIL monies, our prior level of success in Men's basketball cannot be sustained and it's only going to get worse. We are going to be eclipsed by Power 5 Teams with mega budgets.
