With a full share of B1G media revenue from their new deal and the CFP money they might be able to wipe that out. The conference just earned $50 million this year from CFP.

When the “Super League” for College Football happens, Rutgers better hope they can figure out a way into it. Just a matter of when, not if. You think Ohio State wants to split that $ with the weak sisters of the B1G?

How is that even possible when the Big Ten pays them $58.7 million a year?

Someone will have to help me.....so if they are losing money, how can they then justify allocating 20.5M to athletes? How is that sustainable?

I would love to know the how the other programs are doing financially. We saw what they spent, so it would be interesting to see how much they made. Maryland is losing money too, but it is much smaller loss than Rutgers.

It just means that you and I are paying Rutgers players salaries thru our tax dollars.

Good to know...

All I know is the money the state is spending on RU athletics could be better spent on improving our infrastructure like repairing our streets and eliminating the potholes that are everywhere.

The burden of subsidizing Rutgers on the typical New Jersey taxpayer is really quite light. The real burden is on enrolled students (or whomever pays their tuition, room, and board), who have their pockets picked in increasingly startling amounts to pay for all of this. Those who would opt for a Rutgers education are footing this bill for nothing.

You have that with increased gas tax

Yes. And students just paid for the 2023 RU Strike and increased salaries for adjuncts with a 4% increase in tuition/fees last year and 6% two years ago. It's never the institution that pays, it's always the students.

They’re raising tolls and gas taxes for that unfortunately 😕

Galls me that my tax dollars are going to this horse sh*#! Talk about taxation without representation 😡

Except if it's a public institution, then the cost is split between students and taxpayers.
