Biden VP pick and bias in reporting

Give me examples and I will give you my opinion.

Telling white women to be afraid of the poor invaders is WAY over the line from the president of the united states.

Sad that reasonable people here don't see that,
Way to deflect question, as I gave you two clear examples.

Also, unless I missed something, Trump never said "white women", you made that up.

Your study was cited by Vox, maybe the fakest of fake news sources. Can you find me.a study that Vox doesn't promote?

So you realize that the study was not by Vox though, right?
Vox just reported on it.

Here is another one.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4933022/

"We find that the opening of the affordable housing development was not associated with trends in crime, property values, or taxes, and discuss management practices and design features that may have mitigated potential negative externalities."

Way to deflect question, as I gave you two clear examples.

Those are hypotheticals. I need to see the context of what you are talking about.

Also, unless I missed something, Trump never said "white women", you made that up.

Right. He pushes against "invaders" from "suburban women" right after he has a poll where he is doing poorly with suburban white women.
09 said we need to read between the lines with Trump... so I am reading between the lines and it is pretty clear what he was saying.

I am glad to educate you then.

https://www.nber.org/papers/w22204.pdf

"Finally, LIHTC development causes declines in both violent and property crime within low income areas, but not does not increase crime in high income areas."
My family moved out of town 1 to avoid crime, then out of town 2 to avoid high taxes that were subsidizing others. Town 3 was great. Then AH, now taxes are up, schools are more populated, and car burglaries are common. Men and women are concerned and those that are being reminded to be worried by Trump, in Trump’s jerk way of doing things. That does not make one racist.

and let me add that my friend/neighbors are Asian, Indian, Italian, African, Jewish. The AH has the same types. It’s a $ thing. Not a racism thing.

So you agree he didn’t say “white women”.

See, there you go again twisting words. He never said white women. He said suburban housewives.

All you are is a political instigator on this board, stop with the act.

Your unwillingness to see things outside your scope of view is on brand.
How about you debate the issue? Is living in a nice town with better schools a legitimate right? Should it be a right?

I’m embarrassed to say I vote left when my counterparts refuse to discuss the actual issue. It’s easier to just scream wear a mask, or racist! or sexist! Or guns are bad! No substance anymore

I can't comment on what is happening in your town without knowing the towns.
I can tell you that they added AH units in my town since I moved here 6 years ago. Market value of my house is about 140k higher than we bought it for with about 25k of renovations. Taxes have gone up about 4% per year. Biggest jump was when they added full day kindergarten 3 years ago. Crime hasn't changed.

Lol... you just said...

A smart person doesn't take everything Trump says as literal. Much of it is bluster. You have to read between the lines

So we should read between the lines to interpret things favorable to Trump, but we can't read between the lines for things unfavorable?

So your point is I’m a dope -Why should I bust my ass to get into a good school system. Just qualify for AH and I get the same thing. Too many programs incentivize not busting your hump and some are too stupid to see that those same programs while sounding nice are meant to keep people down and get a vote

Mergian logic: Ergo, when you add subsided housing to your neighborhood, property values rise.

Makes sense to me.

Exactly
The suburban housewives in my neighborhood are every color and ethnicity.

That tweet had nothing to do with any actions he is taking. Pretty clear that's what my comment was referring to (which of course you removed from the quoted post). I've come to expect deception from you.

Anyone espousing expansion of subsidized housing has three characteristics.

1. They have never been in, let alone lived in, subsidized housing.
2. They don't want it near them.
3. They don't have the balls to admit number 2.

Rolling back the rules on affordable housing is an action that Trump is taking.
How is that deceiving?

There is a lot of truth in that.

However, would you disagree that calling people who would want to move into a nicer community "invaders" is a bit over the top?

Yes, not the best choice of words but then again the definition includes:

"enter (a place, situation, or sphere of activity) in large numbers, especially with intrusive effect."

You are the deceiving one. Trump's words and action in this case is not racist in any way.

its over the top. No question. Everything he does is over the top if not worse.
But it’s not worthy of calling him or anyone who agrees with him a racist. And that’s what my fellow dems sadly don’t see. We take the bait every time and it only fires up people to say dems are looney tunes we can’t let them win. And it’s not fair to not give credit to the MANY moderate things trump has done. If dems stick to facts and issues instead of being led by the media and small majority of the loud left we have a chance to get to good. But don’t politically chastise people for wanting to debate Paris climate accord, free college, white privilege, mass shootings, etc. I’m embarrassed to be a democrat because we tout ourselves as being more accepting when in reality we have zero tolerance for debate or disagreement. And in that regard I rather support someone like Trump who doesn’t care what color etc you are; rather he only cares about you if you are an asset to him.

He is rolling back onerous regulations and reporting. He is not against AH.

Take a look at what Carson has been doing to transform, improve, and support AH.

Also, implying that only brown and black live in AH is racist. Lotsa whites live in AH.

Right, but there is a reason he is talking about invaders into the suburbs and not "AH policy isn't working"

To be clear. I am not calling him or anyone who agrees with him a racist.

Trump is all about himself. If he sees that saying anything will help him win an election, he will say it. Sometimes that will be something good and unifying, sometimes it will be something bad and divisive. He doesn't care as long as it helps him.

I agree with all of that and have discussed/debated most here.

Thanks for clarifying
I thought you said the statement was racist so with the way things are going that makes some feel like one is being called a racist
I appreciate the back and forth-thank you

What town is this? I would love to look at crime stats.

I happen to agree with you here. The progressives who claim they are liberal are actually the opposite of being liberal. The intolerance of opinion and refusing to debate sides to an argument is what offends me about what is happening on the far left. Cancel culture, the ridiculousness of that a white guy can’t be the voice of Apu, to shouting down a person like Milo, to censoring comedians that they cannot say anything that may be offensive etc etc.

Yep. 70% of suburbs are white. I know who he was talking to.
Ignore if you want.
I would never accuse you of being a racist but you do quickly like to paint a lot of opinions in terms of race to prove a point. I know you hate Trump, but if he is as racist as you believe, why promote and get criminal justice reform that Clearly benefits minorities?

I just want to have healthy debate and it’s slipping away. I think (Actually I just hope) the silent majority (on both sides) are going to stand up after the election

Maplewood is probably not the best town to poll. Super liberal and they would probably say yes.

Really? Are they that different from their neighbors in South Orange, who pushed hard to change the name of the town a few years back, so that they could dissociate themselves from "the Oranges"?

Like I said. I do not believe Trump is a racist.
I do believe he doesn't care about saying racist things if those things help him.

Correct. Unfortunately, we have a couple of those on the board. You are decidedly not one of them, which I respect.

Yes. I lived in South Orange for 26 years, and Maplewood for 7.
Parents still live in South Orange.

Sorry I didn’t get the exact quote verbatim. She said” you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska.” That’s so far different than what I wrote. Yup missed the from land here.

She never said anything like that AND you CAN actually see Russia from some parts of Alaska.
