I wouldn’t worry about NIL either if I had Repole or some other billionaire jocksniffer hanging off the end of my knob.100% that was the right call to give a shot. Like he said in pregame interview. He’s not worried about NIL he’ll set up hot dog stands if he needs to. He wouldn’t rely on his AD, a Mike McBride or anyone else but himself
you think our nil situation would be worse, better, or the same with Pitino. No doubt in my mind we’d be way ahead. Repole has been at SJU for a while and getting them players for years. Pitino brought his involvement to new level that Lavin, Mullin, and Anderson didn’t. Buying players isn’t new. See Kyle Anderson or the many posts about the Villanova Wildcat$ on this board. Repole could’ve been doing this for over decade. Unless of course you think Repole is a stand up guy and over the years only wanted to pay guys on the books. LOLI wouldn’t worry about NIL either if I had Repole or some other billionaire jocksniffer hanging off the end of my knob.

It depends. Would Kurtz be as obnoxious and thirsty as Repole? I guess I’d learn to live with it either way, But that’s how I’d see him. Someone at Seton Hall would have to find his phone number first, though. Is that how you would describe Kurtz if he was doing the same for Shaheen?
It's amazing how people don't understand that. They refuse to answer the question that is so obvious, would our NIL be better under Pitino? Seton Hall found religion, St. John's found a program changer. I've convinced myself we're better humans for not hiring him. In the long run 11th place is better than winning a championship with guy who will do anything for a win. LOLPitino brings money, influence, energizes a fan base. He also changes the Administration’s behavior. When you hire someone at his level you hand the keys over.

I think we know the answer to that lolIs that how you would describe Kurtz if he was doing the same for Shaheen?
I would take KR as my first round draft pick if I was building a college team.
and a heady guy in charge every second12pts, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 0 turnovers yesterday.

We have always agreed on Pitino. However if we would have called him he would have blocked our number immediately. There is no question he wouldn’t ever consider us for a nano secondhappy for him.
Don’t know of there’s a thread on this but I said it in the past I’d take patino as my coach in a heartbeat. I said when he went to SJU he’ll have them competing for Natty is 3 years. May be ahead of schedule. Anyone still think we shouldn’t have given him a call when we were looking? Don’t tell me the right coach can’t recruit to SHU. SJU facilities are a dump.
Amount of sour grapes by Seton Hall fans over St Johns, Repole and Pitino never ceases to amaze me. You would be licking his jock strap if Pitino and OR Repole were part of Seton Hall. Alas though we have Priest scandals and poverty NILIt depends. Would Kurtz be as obnoxious and thirsty as Repole? I guess I’d learn to live with it either way, But that’s how I’d see him. I think I've been pretty consistent over the years about how distasteful I'd find the idea of Pitino coaching Seton Hall. I know he's a great coach; his record speaks for itself. But no, I would not be doing anything of the sort.Amount of sour grapes by Seton Hall fans over St Johns, Repole and Pitino never ceases to amaze me. Where would Pitino be if Mike Anderson had a very good year in 2023? His shot at SJU was never a guarantee. In 2022 he would've jump at the second any big east school called, especially one within 15 minutes of NYC. He would've been in Willard's chair before Willard started packing. I think he would've gone to Xavier, Nova, Georgetown, Butler or Depaul. We have always agreed on Pitino. However if we would have called him he would have blocked our number immediately. There is no question he wouldn’t ever consider us for a nano second
Also, idk about digging up old posts because you’re also the guy who literally bet several posters that KW would be fired by year 3 and never see a year 4..and made this claim several times
So like all of us you seem to win some and lose some around here
LMAO. So true. Isn't it amazing how recruiting went down after they went to jail. hmmmmmmmof all the schools out there we had more boosters sent to jail i bet lol
That bounce pass on the fast break in the 2nd half was a thing of beauty.12pts, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 0 turnovers yesterday.
Zero chance..less than zeroWhere would Pitino be if Mike Anderson had a very good year in 2023? His shot at SJU was never a guarantee. Advised Willard not to take the job in 2011.Zero chance..less than zero
He regarded Iona as a better job than SHU
I have heard him describe SHU before..he basically thinks we are a middle school

Basically exactly what I saidBS
Pitino said he would never leave aiona for anyone. Until St John's offered.
Pitino would have listened and there was consideration to my understanding.
Basically exactly what I said
Directing players where to position on fast breaks, directing players who to guard in transition, just two easy examples
Pitino said a big part of their second half plan was to attack the rim and do stuff to get Kalk deeper, under the basket, so he wouldn't be as effective disrupting shots, whether because he was blocked by the rim, too deep, or could get sealed by another guy (like your example).Did anyone notice the play when he drove into the paint with his man on his hip, dribbled in a half circle around Zuby and Kalk under the basket.
All the get Kalk and his man stuck on the outside back hip of Zuby and then gave Zuby and easy lay off pass for a layup/dunk?
Dude is unreal. And many of our posters didnt understand what they were watching with him.

like x 1000...l. And many of our posters didnt understand what they were watching with him.
then they are as wrong as the kadarydoubters. i am a sha fan and i have a hard time coming up with one positive theme for this season.Fair enough. But many on here have told us it's NEVER the coaches fault at SHU. It's always the players who cannot execute the coaches vision (but the players still were not allowed to be criticized lol).
So if we follow that thought process. Smooth Operator still had to execute what Pitino wanted.
Exactly. No different than the posters who thought Whitehead coached the team or getting a new coach would get us to the 2nd weekend of the real tournament. And many of our posters didnt understand what they were watching with him.
It was a good piece, but I couldn’t but help and notice the slant/bias by Carino in that he avoided perhaps the most significant issue folks bantered about preseason - would Kadary with his reputation, deserved or not, work with Pitino in his system and old school approach. Even when talking about NIL and $$ being somewhat irrelevant if the pieces don’t mesh, buy-in and play together, he gave the credit to the player for buying in win out mentioning the Head Coach who might be the biggest reason everyone bought in.How lucky are we to have had JP Pelzman and now have Jerry Carino?
In fairness, R.J. Luis had off-season surgery for shin splints that really hampered him last year and is a much improved player. Zuby has transformed his body and his game. Kadary has sacrificed a lot, but without these 2 Johnnies are nowhere near the team they are.KR is the MVP of the SJU team. His addition lifted them to a Championship level. The other two guys were there last year and couldn't get it done.
Oh sorry I misread your postI think if offered he would have come to Seton Hall when Willard left. Polar opposite of what you said.
History shows it only kicks in after taking a hard fall to the floor (when he shouldn't have even been in the game) and then playing 51 minutes in the next game (clearly not 100 percent) and putting up a triple double.
Unique circumstances to be sure.
Richmond has missed eight games in his college career out of a possible 164 -- those two and the six with a stress fracture in his back. Again, it was apparent he was off in the Creighton game. Maybe the thinking was get some rest, heal up and be as healthy as possible for the rest of the season.Hurt or injured. With your season needing every game possible you play hurt, not injured. Never heard of the injury of soreness. Played with a severely bad hand in the big east tournament and NCAA tournament in 2022. We’ve seen tons of guys like Powell play hurt over the years.
Well you got me on the Willard prediction. I didn’t realize how terribly the NIL would affect the sport. If you have enough money you can win regardless. He still doesn’t have an offense but when you can pay really good players that makes your offense look functional. We have always agreed on Pitino. However if we would have called him he would have blocked our number immediately. There is no question he wouldn’t ever consider us for a nano second

You know what they say, if you don’t ask you don’t get. SHU doesn’t have the Alumni that a blue blood does. They shouting open the checkbook for a guy with a Pitino like name who will instantly bring NIL money. SJU wasn’t much better than DePaul a few years ago. To Rick 2 years to make them a championship contender. We have always agreed on Pitino. However if we would have called him he would have blocked our number immediately. There is no question he wouldn’t ever consider us for a nano second

If I hear him say one time he didn't know if he would ever get another chance I'm going to scream. You just know if SHU offered he would have been in Willard's former chair before we finished asking the question.
If he did what he did with SHU imagine what he works have done in 2 season with what was left at SHU.Much much better
Would have been much better with Willard
