Congrats to SHU Women’s Basketball Team

Genius is right! The Big East, and especially Seton Hall are being disrespected.
Yes and no

Obviously we want more teams and a better conference and I agree

The no is the word disrespect..the big East is a very weak athletic conference in any sport that isn’t men’s basketball…so it’s not really disrespect

Not totally true...mens and womens soccer since new alignment has not been dormant on national scene in college cup, uconn has had a run in field hockey, baseball and softball the toughest sports to get to a regional and advance

UConn is an outlier and still above average

Soccer is above average

We offer way less sports than most conference…and until the recent new rules most of our institutions aren’t even running fully funded programs for every sport they offer

That is not on par with what some poster think the big east is

Seton Hall had opportunity to earn respect and didn't do so this season.

They lost to their three best non-conference opponents -- two of them by large margins -- and lost five times to the two best teams in the conference -- four of those by 16 or more points.

Their best win was over Marquette (NET 63) and best OOC win was over a 15-14 Cincinnati team with a NET of 91. On the other hand, they were 15-0 against Q4 opponents, so they had that going for them.

The overall record is nice but it disguises the underlying data which shows a resume lacking in substance.

The fifth-best conference narrative is misleading as well as it's largely driven by UConn and to a lesser degree Creighton. Seton Hall, Marquette and St, John's are a good step below those two with everybody else far behind this year. That further serves to depress the metrics because there are too many empty wins on the schedule.

You do realize we played a good number of games without two of our starters due to injury, correct? Catalon and Pinkney missed numerous games. I believe Pinkney is still out. Hopefully she’ll be able to join the team again for the postseason. Others missed time as well which shortened our bench.

I only vaguely follow women's basketball, but I seem to remember DePaul women being a strong program that used to dominate. Am I making that up or what happened?

Yes nothing earth shattering bruno been there forever...not sure they ever made a sweet 16

DePaul and St. John's both use to be the leaders of the conference.

I cheer for our Women and Seton Hall.
Some of you guys are throwing shade at the Women maybe because our
Men did so poorly.

So, I was holding out hope and making an argument up until the Creighton road game. No way this team could compete against USC, LSU nor UConn. The first home Creighton game was there for them, but their star player made huge shots at crunch time. The Marquette game was the shining moment, However, from that point forward they did not rise to the occasion against any good team. The bottom line is the league has to improve and SHU needs to elevate a notch or two in overall talent.

It is interesting how we treat the programs differently. We can make a strong argument that the criticism goes overboard related to Men's Basketball. The game threads can be painful.

So, i believe "some" of the mediocrity of the SHU sport's teams is caused by a lack of attention or scrutiny. The Women's Basketball Program has been respectable & solid. Excellent student athletes that rep The University well. It's too bad there is not too much dialogue after games by Hall fans. There is some interest just not enough.

i watch and I root, but let's be honest, SHU does not warrant an NCAA bid. Tony is being a Sales person trying to sell the 3rd place finish, in the conference that has UConn in it. No way.

How ticked would we be if Seton Hall had been passed over for a team that had a NET of 76 and went 0-8 against the NCAA Tournament field?

Imagine leaving Princeton with a NET of 47 and a win over Seton Hall out in favor of us. They've also got a Q1 win that we don't. They are one of the last four in the field.

I'd love to see us in the field. Unfortunately, most of the things that people are highlighting are things the committee glosses over because it considers them relatively unimportant.
