Trump's America

SHU09 you consistently get things completely wrong. There was no recession during Biden’s term. A recession is declared by the National Bureau of Economic Research. There are multiple factors in which it takes into consideration before a recession is declared. No change in definition. It just has always been that way. Perhaps you should have read an additional article in For es magazine about this topic to enlighten you. https://www.forbes.com/sites/qai/2022/09/22/when-will-this-officially-be-called-a-recession/

Learn how to read. I said Biden changed the definition of a recession. I never said there was one.

Yeah I know what you said. There was never a change in the definition of recession. The NBER is the entity that declares a recession officially. Biden did not just make up the NBER. It has been in existence since 1920. Biden did not change the definition. I am glad that you admit there was not a recession during Biden's years despite you claiming that there was one or that there would be one for a a long time.

People are used to two quarters of contraction being the signal that we’re in a recession, but you are correct that is not the only thing that the NBER looks at, and their definition did not change during Biden’s term.

After Q1 2022 was negative, Biden was so terrified that Q2 might come in negative in a midterm year (it didn't) that he and his administration started twisting words and misleading people in order to preemptively get ahead of the possibility.

I never claimed there was one. I said one is coming, which it still is. It will be here sooner than you think.

Ahh, the idiot COVID tyrant Dr. Ding is back with more political posts. Notice this person has not been deported. It only says that the family "fears" she might be, which is probably unfounded if here documents are actually legal. If they aren't, then all bets are off.

Please examine the quality of your sources instead of posting nonsense on here from known left wing agitators.

Thanks, but that's not what the article in the Twitter post said. We need more information. Notice the article you posted did not say whether it was a commerical flight or a government flight. Didn't identify the airline or flight number, and the article is heavily influenced by the lawyer and family's comments.

Obviously an issue with the H-1B visa. The article only alludes to a "wrinkle," but says little else. We only have one side of the story here and there needs to be more investigation. It's poor journalism on the part of Tom Mooney and the Providence Journal.

fwiw - Waiting for more info would have been the right call here.
Attended the funeral of Hassan Nasrallah, a leader of Hezbollah while in Lebanon and had images of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders on her phone.

Visa holders should be careful not not give a reason for deportation, and she gave them one.

Pretty quiet about the fact egg prices are down, gas prices are down, core inflation is down. You should share both sides to the story

I have been hearing gas prices are down. From what?? https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pet_pri_gnd_a_epmr_pte_dpgal_m.htm According to the eia, the official government report, regular gas is actually up from when Trump took office. Are you talking about the price of oil per gallon? Well, it turns out the Kazechstan has been overproducing oil from what OPEC plus wants. That has led to more supply. https://www.reuters.com/markets/com...oil-pact-february-opec-data-shows-2025-03-12/ Thus, oil price per gallon has dropped. The reason oil prices have remained at 70-80 per barrel levels is because OPeC + reduced production of oil three times during the Biden administration.

As far as inflation goes, that is a lagging indicator. Inflation has been brought down by the Fed. Jerome Powell’s handling of the inflation has been spot on. Inflation fears are happening now because what tariffs wil do to it starting on April 2. But you won’t see inflation rise due to tariff is for a few months later

Just my opinion, but I think opinions about the economy are more about feel than specific stats.

- When you fill your tank, is there a noticeable difference?
- What’s the week to week grocery bill compared to recent weeks?

I saw an article that Costco grocery sales are up significantly and the conclusion they came to was that people are eating out less. I’ve noticed this at restaurants in the region. They just don’t seem as crowded. Are people shopping at discount/volume stores more because they are eating out less? We can afford it but spending $150-200 for two of us for a nice meal with cocktails & tip is noticeable.

Although inflation toward the end of Biden’s term was low, there were two things that they missed. One, you can’t tout your own version of statistics to convince the public that they were wrong to feel that way. Second, Biden didn’t do much especially the last two years so prices got more attention and another example of people complaining about his inaction.

Why did or do people go to restaurants? Typically they don't have the time to cook and it was a convenience at a reasonable cost.
