Covid Related Precautions For this coming season

That won't be true. More coming soon after negotiations are complete. There will be restrictions for Vaccinated

Any negotiations that don't end with you (and your imaginary friends) being banned from the Seton Hall campus and the Prudential Center for life would be a complete failure.

Not sure why any of this matters to you since you've been confined to your basement since March of last year. I see no reason why you would emerge anytime soon.

I fear the wacko will be right by accident. I think once Murphy wins reelection there will be more restrictions at sporting events, restaurants, etc. Why it matters to someone in solitary confinement, I don't know.

Watching the highlights from the blue and white scrimmage. It looks like majority of people in the stands did mask up. Anyone who was there able to confirm?

Right, but the vaccine helps prevent infection in the first place, so it would be less likely to happen in a vaccinated individual.

Meaning the more people who are vaccinated, the chances that a more dangerous variant is established goes down.
@Merge It doesn't help prevent infection at all, it just mounts an immune response to a known antigen. Whether or not it propagates from there is multi-factorial. So more vaccinated people does not necessarily equal less or more dangerous mutation. Most mutation is random, and can sometimes be for the better. Every variant is not a "more dangerous" one.

Right, not saying more dangerous variants are the only variants... but they are a possibility, and the less the virus mutates, the less of a chance of a chance there is that the virus mutates into something worse.

To clarify though, are you saying that the vaccine does not help prevent Covid-19 or that the vaccine does not prevent an immune response to SARS CoV-2 exposure? Every study I have seen says that the vaccines do reduce the risk of infection. Or are you saying that the virus can mutate with or without infection?

New variant to watch- this could be the variant that wrecks havoc across the country this winter. With the Biden admin allowing foreign visitors to come to the us starting November 8th. This doesn't smell good.

I think that immunity is waning, and so we are going to see re-infection with COVID until regular boosters are figured out. What's interesting to me is that while the flu has a distinctive seasonal pattern, it doesn't really seem to be the case with this virus -- yet. I am in favor of the vaccine, and yes viri need hosts to live, much less mutate, but the vaccinated are getting COVID, too. I'm not convinced, given the random nature of mutations, that we will drive down variants with 100% vaccination. Serious illness? Absolutely.

What are your thoughts on natual anti virals such as oil of oregano supplements and ginger?

I don't disagree that immunity from vaccination is waning. I was just saying that those who are vaccinated are less likely to get infected with Covid from the SARS CoV-2 virus. So logically that extended to the virus being less likely to mutate in someone who is vaccinated.

Less likely to get infected, or have clinical disease?

You may consider the latter theory logical, but it's not scientific, to my knowledge.

That's fine. You don't have to go to the games if you don't want to wear a mask. We are in the middle of a pandemic and the predictions for this winter don't look pretty. Unfortunately these will be the restrictions in place for the next few seasons. This virus isn't going anywhere! Get used to it!
No, if we’re being honest the pandemic is OVER and has been for quite some time! The attempt at governmental control and taking away our freedoms however is sadly still in full swing!

“Foreign visitors“!? The word you’re looking for is “illegals” and “future democratic voters”.

No that's not correct. Most NJ counties are at high risk. Even vaccinated people have to mask up in indoors settings. Unfortunately We are passed the point of the vaccines saving us from this pandemic. The variants will haunt us for years. Therefore we will have to follow these restrictions for years based on the decisions made by the unvaccinated.

Good grief, if you are vaccinated and actually believe the vaccine works then why the hell do you care if anyone else is vaccinated!? You’re protected, right?

Unvaccinated can spread to vaccinated.

Do you believe the vaccine doesn't work? If so, please provide the scientific peer reviewed study that has come to this conclusion. Thank you.

Read your first sentence. If the unvaccinated can spread Covid (and the vaccinated can spread it too, just an FYI) to the vaccinated then does it really sound like the vaccine works!? I don’t think so! Go peer review yourself!

If you want to be a governmental guinea pig, wearing 100 masks, bathing in hand sanitizer while locked up in mommy’s basement then you go for it. The rest of us have lives to live.

If infected, vaccinated people will very more likely be asymptomatic or have very little symptoms. It is possible people that are vaccinated and are at high risk can have severe symptoms. Have a fantastic day.

Both really, no?

My understanding is that the vaccines work to identify and destroy the spike protein so the virus does not infect you. It is not 100% effective but it does reduce the risk that exposure would lead to infection. A virus needing a host to replicate provides a lower chance that virus replicates and mutates in a vaccinated

+1…read an article the other day on Axios, which said the government messaging for vaccinated has been way off. Said the focus should have been on how to return to normal way of life. Instead it’s all been about pushing vaccines to the unvaccinated. Causing confusion and distrust among the Vaccinated,

On another note, investigations initiated by airlines for attacks of flight attendants is three times higher than any year…. with two months to go! Restrictions are driving people crazy and they are doing harm. At some point you need to let people do things at their own risk.

I shake my head when going to the supermarket and I STILL see dozens of people wearing masks. It's beyond time to move on.

Just saw University Hospital in Newark is now mandating booster shots for all staff who received J&J. I can't think of a better way to undermine vaccine confidence than that!

I thought you were the person that said when there are vaccines widely available there are no need for restrictions. In NJ school people are still required to mask up. I thought you said that wouldn't happen this year?

Right... like seatbelts and smoking. Let the people on planes do what they want...

Not the same thing....anyway, I believe in personal freedom (and responsibility).

Should we forcibly remove homeless drug addicts from living on the street with a high potential of harming themselves or others? We can play the silly analogy game all day long.

Exactly! When does it end? How much of an experimental drug should you be forced to take?

But your blaming restrictions for people behaving like animals and attacking flight attendants...

Like it or not, there are rules for flying. If you can't mentally handle those rules to the point where you would attack a person for just doing their job, don't fly.

Didn’t know you were referring to just flying. I think pretty much everyone gets the need for seatbelts and smoking. Clearly there is not universal acceptance that a mask on a flight makes a material difference. Gets back to the confusion in messaging.

Update: We got what we have been asking! Mandatory masking at Seton hall games at the Prudential Center regardless of vaccination status! Expect announcement early this week!

Imaginary friends? We just completed our talks with the university! Mandatory masking rule will be enforced at Seton hall games this year! Announcement this week!

So let's get this straight. The guy who lives in Atlantic County and just took a simple walk outside for the first time in over a year and a half is a season ticket holder and is going to go to games in Newark (nearly two hours from home) surrounded by thousands of people?

Exactly. And The Rock is going to mandate masks for everyone even though I've been watching Knick games with many folks not wearing any?

No I am not going. Have you read the posts from the beginning? My alumni friends who are season ticket holders were holding off on buying season ticket holders until the safety precautions came out. When they didn't hear about them, they were becoming concerned and considered dropping their very generous donations to the school. Now after talking with the school expect an announcement this week about how mask wearing will look at Seton hall games this season. Stop laughing and lying about me became you are making a fool of yourself.
