BEDMINSTER, N.J. -- The Seton Hall women's golf team will host the second annual Pirate Invitational, April 2-3, at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.
Twelve teams will compete on Trump's "New Course," a par-72, 5,802-yard gem designed and built by Tom Fazio, who has worked closely with Donald Trump as his in-house golf course designer and builder for almost a decade. The New Course literally frames the Old Course, transforming every inch of available land into a handcrafted masterpiece. With a mix of wooded and open spaces and even more elevation changes, The New Course is distinctly different and boasts old school characteristics such as smaller greens and bunkers.
In addition to Seton Hall, participating schools include Boston College, Central Connecticut State University, Columbia University, Georgetown University, University of Georgia, LIU-Brooklyn, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, Rutgers University, St. John's University and Yale University.
The tournament will feature two rounds of competition with 18 holes being played on each Thursday and Friday. Five players will play per team, but only the four best scores per round will count.
"We're really excited to be back at Trump for our second annual event," said head coach Sara Doell. "Last year's tournament was a great success as we received positive feedback from several participating teams. This will prove to be a fine final tune-up before we attempt to defend our BIG EAST title."
All seven members of Seton Hall's roster will compete in the event. Round one will begin with a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. Here are the departure holes:
Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) - Hole #1A
Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) - Hole #1B
Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) - Hole #2
Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) - Hole #3
Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) - Hole #4A
McKenzie Cutter (Waldorf, Md.) and Macky Fouse (Aliquippa, Pa.) will compete as individuals. Cutter will tee off from hole #4B and Fouse will tee off from hole #5A.
Most recently, the Pirates are coming off a sixth place finish at the Bearcat Spring Classic. Megan Tenhundfeld notched her eighth career top-10 finish with a 10th place tie. For the tournament, she finished at 12-over-par with an 80-74-74-228, nine strokes behind the individual champion, Bradley's Danielle Lemek.
Collectively, Seton Hall shaved 12 strokes off its second round score with a 15-over-par, 303, on Sunday. The performance allowed the Pirates to move three spots in the standings for a sixth place finish. For the three-round event, The Hall was 66-over-par with a 312-315-303-930.
