Does Sha Know What He’s Doing?

There will always be some posters that wait in the wings to jump on the negative. One little moment is all it takes sometimes.

Looking at the big picture is harder to do. Being myopic and seeing all the minute flaws is easy.

The thing is, I don’t see any “homers” say that Sha has done even a mediocre job this year. I believe it’s unanimous that’s it’s been a complete failure as a season.

The issue I have is lumping Sha’s entire body of work into the last 2+ months of games.

Minimizing Sha’s run to the elite 8 is bad enough and then some posters fail to acknowledge that the first two years Sha exceeded expectations.

But it is what it is with some.

How can you exceed expectations and not make the NCAA Tournament when you're at a program in a high major league? What a ridiculous statement.

At 13-7 in conference, beating UConn, that damm Triple OT loss against Creighton we were truly a Bubble Team. The OOC, the beatdowns, the poor BigEast Tournament game and the upsets in Conference Tournaments kept us out.

because the committee is behind closed doors and biased. thats actually an honest answer. and i know you also believe it.

it was only disappointing because it ended unfairly in someone elses hands. the 15 mountain west teams who didn't deserve it all got demolished in the first round. shoulda been us in there. that was disappointing. and i've historically been negative.

Spot on. Crazy people are content that the expectations were 9th and thrilled we exceeded 9th. Amazing how quickly NCAA or bust doesn’t apply. And it’s simply because it’s a former great player now coaching us. Anyone else other than Sha or Andre Barrett and the board would be ripping the coach

it's because we had one of our best BE seasons ever last year. might have even been the best. including beating UCONN on its back to back championship tour.

What? We were picked 9th by league coaches who know a thing or two about hoops, yet we exceeded expectations.

Yep. Far too many people are ignoring what we're seeing because they're close with the coach, or think fondly of him because of his playing days.

Laughable. So 8th would have been a good season because it was better than a meaningless preseason poll? Get out of here.

Based on pre season expectations and rankings. It isn’t rocket science.

But if you struggle understanding wins and losses, I’m not sure what to say.

Keep standing on that hill. It’s all good.

Wait for it it…..

It’s called N. I. L.

A liiiiiitle bit different from the days 2 &3 years ago.

But some of you guys that are new to all this might need a helping hand?

The other poster implied that exceeding the preseason poll is all that matters. By his definition then, a finish of 1st through 8th would have been a good season.

At the high major level, it's about making (and advancing) in the NCAA Tournament. Nothing else. Our coach is 0-for-3. But go ahead bury your head in the sand and keep supporting this guy and the joke of a program that he runs.

Ridiculous, they finished 4th with 13 Be wins.

You implied that exceeding the meaningless Big East preseason poll makes it a good year. So by your definition, an 8th place finish last year would have still exceeded expectations.

You really need to read everything I write if you’re going to put words in my mouth.

This season is an all-time horrific year. I have not supported the decisions made for this year.

But last year was a perfect storm to keep SHU out of the tournament. In every one of Willard’s years, Sha would have gotten in as there were very few bid stealers.

I also want to know how many second year SHU coaches made the NCAA’s? Let me know when you got your list together

It’s also a new era with NIL that’s more about the entire administration and program more than it is Sha.

You know that

That’s just BS. Typical straw dog argument. If you even know what that means. I specifically said 13 BE wins
and 4th in the conference exceeded expectations.

You said this first, which is what I'm talking about:
So you interpreted this post as I would have said finishing 8th rather then 9th is exceedingly expectations? Really. Of course I never said that. You made that up.

I guess I should have included a qualifier like greatly. However in the context of last years team most prople would agree that last season SHU greatly exceeded expectations. And that was clearly what I meant.

The Seton Hall job requires you to do more with less- always has, and always will. There is no war chest coming. If Shaheen cannot build a competitive roster at 2 million or whatever, then he needs to go and have someone else try.

If the next guy can't do it, then you try again. It is what it is- we have seen extremely poor results from this coach and an NIT champtionship where teams sat out because they didn't want to play and an elite 8 run at a previous college means nothing at all to me

Being bad and being disappointed are 2 completely different things. I have absolutely no positive expectations this year. Tough to be disappointed this year. Last year was much more disappointing because you felt we could beat Iowa, RU, USC. For as bad as this team is, we might have fewer 15 point losses this year. We had 7 last year and only 2 so far this year. Being beaten by 15+ that many times with a much better team is and was disappointing.
I wouldn’t touch the under on 6 more 15 point losses this season.

you're getting into a semantics argument now because you have no rebuttle to the real point. last year was a top 1% year in the big east for Shu.
Top 1%? Do you have any clue what the early 90s looked like. And do you know how historically bad the conference was in comparison to the previous 40 years. It was one of the worst.

With pay to play it’s a tall order that no one will fill. You don’t have the payroll you won’t get the talent. This isn’t facilities it is the greatest of all forces: pay me.

Unfortunately for you and your misguided reality, the entire season counts. Not just the Big East portion of it. Last year did NOT exceed expectations. Failed to make the NCAA Tournament and that's all that matters.
