Did I say that? No. I will reassess how the situation is for me and my high risk family members that live in my household at the end of this year.

Fauci was not telling anyone what to do. He was clearly talking about what the pandemic will look like months from now, and none of us know. If he said, yeah see your family then some jackass who kills their at risk grandparent in a Covid hot spot would blame Fauci.
It is absolutely common sense. If there is a large outbreak in your area and you have an at risk family member, you may want to take additional precautions. If that doesn’t apply. You’re fine.

That’s bull, he is exactly telling people what to do, does it all the time and media eats it up. Fauci goes on and on, making TV appearances and it is all fear mongering.
He's not telling people what to do, he's not saying don't go see your family. He is providing a perspective on the virus as an immunologist. The reality is that there are tens of thousands of people who are dead and would be alive today if they just got vaccinated. It's not fear mongering to say focus on today and encourage vaccinations rather than think about what things will be like 3 months from now.
Problem with messaging is pushing vaccinations which I agree with, but at same time the message is also telling vaccinated people not to gather with family and/or also wear masks indoor, even with other vaccinated people
I agree with some of what you say about encouraging vaccinations, but he needs to focus on figuring out how to get more people vaccinated, because it is clear that him making TV appearences is not really helping push the needle to more vaccinations.
Maybe he needs to defer to others to show up on TV as they may have better results especially as he has become a very polarizing figure. Or maybe should spend more time coming up with a different plan/approach that may have better results. Or maybe someone else in government needs to take the lead from him and see how that goes?
I just feel he is failing as the leader of the effort to combat the virus.
And he would also have saved tens of thousands of lives if he had recommended people reduce their risk through comorbidities, but he failed there as well. The real issue is that he said one thing on Sunday and another on Monday...Dr. Flip Flop. Par for the course.

He isn't saying not to see your family. He is saying there is risk, and we should understand that risk.
I don't disagree he has become polarizing, but maybe there just aren't that many people who would sign up to deal with all of the public scrutiny he deals with. Lets not pretend that anyone else who becomes the public face of a campaign for vaccines will not have the same result of polarization.

Totally disagree. He signed on and is loving being a media whore. Gottlieb, while not perfect, has done a much better job.
And if Gotlieb were acting as the Chief medical advisor and going on shows as part of an administration, he would be just as scrutinized. He essentially said the same thing that Fauci did. We don't know where we will be months from now. Judge the prevalence in the community and your specific risks to the virus.
