WARREN, CONN. – After a valiant battle with leukemia, Paul Ramee, a former member of the Seton Hall men's golf team and father of recent graduate Hunter Ramee, passed away on Sunday.

The elder Ramee was a supporter of the current men's golf program at Seton Hall beyond being a loving parent and devoted teacher of the game. Ramee was the Lead Coach for the Golf Channel Academy at Bull's Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn., a course the Pirates played often when competing at the Hartford Hawks Invitational.

"We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Paul Ramee," said Seton Hall men's golf head coach Clay White. "He has quietly and humbly helped Seton Hall golf for the last 10 plus years. Tracey and Paul would host the team for dinner when we played at Bull's Bridge and his three sons became a part of our SHU golf family."

Ramee's son Hunter just earned his degree last month after serving as a valuable member of the Seton Hall men's golf team for four years. Paul Ramee himself was a member of the program as an undergraduate in the 1980s.

"The knee hockey games with Owen and Ollie are still talked about by the alum who were fortunate enough to get to play in them," White continued. "He hosted the team on several occasions at Bull's Bridge for team practice rounds and spent time helping some of our players with their games. Tracey and Paul also hosted numerous players at their home during Hunter's time on the team."

Ramee was twice recognized as one of Golf Digest's "Best Teachers" in the state of Connecticut, most recently placing third on the list for 2017-'18, and in 2016 was named the Connecticut PGA Section Teacher of the Year. Ramee also served as an Assistant Golf Professional at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, N.J., and the famed Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa., host to nine U.S. Open Championships. He was also the Head Professional at The Park Country Club in Williamsville, N.Y.

The 2021-22 Seton Hall men's golf team won the BIG EAST Championship. During a thrilling run at the NCAA Regionals, the team wore orange ribbon pins on their hats in support of leukemia awareness, and in particular Ramee's personal plight.

"We will miss him dearly," White said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Tracey, Hunter, Owen and Ollie and the entire Ramee Family."
