At 55 minutes he was emailed and asked about SHU / NIL. Worth a listen

yup. this sums everything up really nicely. said this 2 years ago. its the end. i prepared myself mentally.
Not a big Francesca fan but he knows more about the Hall than you give him credit for. Back in the PJ days post '89 when we were in the NCAAs he had PJ on his WMCA show a number of times. But I do agree that if not for the NCAAs he wouldn't know how to spell SHU. That 's the only time he spent time on college hoops. He’s right about the NIL and high major college sports generally.
On specific teams, he isn’t connected anymore like he was back in the 80s and 90s when he was really dialed in on college hoops.
For example, Providence by all accounts has strong NIL, but he lumped them with us because both are smaller Catholic schools. The only thing he knows about the Hall is what went public after Pitino defended Sha. Other than that he doesn’t know anything about the Hall or most others.
Even St John’s he’s jumping on the bandwagon now but the reality is 95% of our boards knows more about them than he does.
Oh I agree he was locked into the Hall back in the day. In the mid-late 80s and early/mid 90s especially. He was Brent M's "stats" guy before he made it on WFAN so he covered an enormous amount of college football and basketball and was very dialed into the scene and many teams, both Big East and elsewhere. Ultimately between the connection with Brent and him gaining acclaim on WFAN he parlayed that into a studio gig at CBS and covered both regular season games and the NCAA tournament. He famously made the bet with IMUS where he predicted we would go to the final 4.Not a big Francesca fan but he knows more about the Hall than you give him credit for. Unfortunately he's right about the current state of college hoops.

He is spot on and what I have also been saying....this no longer has anything to do with the school. I don't that that reckoning has hit most "fans" yet, but it will. We root for Seton Hall because we root for our alma mater, kids going to the same place I went to, building her up, making alums proud...that is gone. These kids have no sense of "place"; they don't/won't identify with a school; they are 1 year mercenaries who will likely attend few, if any, classes.yup. this sums everything up really nicely. said this 2 years ago. its the end. i prepared myself mentally.
a lot of these kids cant even make an open jumpshot and are making more money by being in the ncaa. that will normalize. the problem is the leagues like big 10 and sec can sustain themselves with their talent for 4 years to remain continuity. and those schools have tons of fans of the brand not the school. a lot of their fans never even went thereHe is spot on and what I have also been saying....this no longer has anything to do with the school. I think when that finally settles in, is when fans will start to drop like flies...and the reality that this is nothing more than the "G League" light, or as Francesa points out, the pros start paying for these leagues...I mean can't you see the Power 4 approaching the NFL saying, "hey, we are tired of financing your minor leagues; the schools no longer have a connection to the teams, and don't want to fork over big bucks to pay for them, so we need the NFL to finally pay for the development we have been providing forever."
because it is an obituary. Why did I think we were hearing our own obituary as a basketball power?
I’m very happy though that he echoed the fact that it’s all about NIL money and not coaching. A lot of our posters blame the school and Sha for this bad season, but the overriding reason for our lack of success is the lack of funds to purchase better players.
