I'm the worst fan at games but?

Standing or sitting the very least someone can do is wear BLUE. Every game should be a sea of PIRATE BLUE. Lets go Pirates. Enjoy the Ride.

Student Section will be empty.
First the Student section will not be as empty as you think. Might even be full. It's not a Tuesday night before Christmas against NJIT. Anyway Quality beats quantity between the Lobster guys and the sign guys it will be raucous. Lets go Pirates. Enjoy the Ride.

This a complex issue and many here are making valid points with some great opinions. Two different issues as I see it. One is how many tickets we sell and how many people are in the
building for a Seton Hall University Basketball game. The other issue is the atmosphere that is created by those people that are in the building.

Are we a 18,000 fans at a game school or are we a possible 10,000 people at a game school? What's realistic in the year 2016 not 1992? In the advent of superior HD TV and
with almost every game available at home. How about the cost of going to a game? Tickets,
Parking, Concessions. Then we have the look at the size of the fanbase. Do we get spillover
business from the surrounding NJ area? We are competing with so many Pro Sports teams for business in addition to all of that. Plus you add in the perception of going to Newark
as opposed to the Meadowlands complex. Most important is that the team has not been successful with a lack of true talent for quite some time.

That leads into issue about the atmosphere at The Rock. For me it's a mixed bag. Not awful and not great. I would say it's improved over the years. The students come in larger numbers and at times are a factor. The general fans wear more SHU items than ever although we have a core that will never become too involved. When SHU plays good teams with something on the line the place is just fine. We are at that place right now.

While in an ideal world you would want every SH fan at a game to be fully engaged, loud, raucous , out of his seat and creating a hostile environment for a visiting team , that's not the reality at the Rock for SH . For me the most important element is that a SH fan takes the time to go to a game, pay for his ticket , root for the Pirates in the way he or she is most comfortable and the simple fact that they show up is important and should be appreciated.

Kind of agree here, unfortunately probably going to be a slow process to build up fan support. First step has started to happen, winning. Next the fans will start to come back, it will be slowly as it has been many years of bad teams and play. Next get that distinct home court advantage.

But ticket & marketing definitely needs lots of improvements, many things need to be looked at. Everything should be on the table, from marketing efforts, comp tickets, discount tickets, to even the price of tickets for regular and season tickets (would lower prices increase sales).

No students for Sunday. Place will be dead.
This is the point in Seton Hall's season where the SHU administration needs to step up their game a bit with incentives to the students. I don't care what they have to do within reason to get the students to come to the game, just get them there. This team has giving so much blood and sweat to get where they are at. It is sad now many Seton Hall students have never been to a Seton Hall basketball game. I heard one girl ask last night where the student section was?

I think also that the center court sections should also be evaluated to see who has bought season tickets and who actually showed. They scan the tickets each game so they know. Those people who have attended each game or maybe missed one, should have preferential treatment to those who buy the season ticket to attended the Nova or Hoya games. Fill this arena. These opportunities do not come along every day so take advantage of what you have.

I thought the crowd was decent for a Seton Hall game... but obviously we don't have the home court advantage that other schools have.

We have a sold out crowd for Sunday, so get loud. I personally have a difficult time staying seated but i can appreciate some of the older fans not wanting or being able to stand for awhile. But everyone needs to be engaged.

If the student section isn't as packed, start a chant or at least join in when someone else does.

And win or lose, please do not leave the game early... Gordon's last game and potentially IW's last game and the last game we'll see them play live before the BET and hopefully NCAA tournament. Arrive early, be loud, Stay until the end.

Hoist the curtain! Hazard Zet Forward.

Also, while this is a pretty negative thread, I would like to shout out the positive people (adults should not have shout outs, but I digress). There is this one dude in section 13? near the floor who stands up the whole game and is totally trying to get others to stand and cheer. There is also a woman with her 3 children that is very engaged with the game. Some Providence fans asked her to sit down last game. Usually I would have told him to stand up, but then I saw he had a crutch, so glad I wasn't a jackass to him.

They are at every game no matter the team. Very loyal and vocal fans.

You are wrong. It's Spring Break, students will not be there.

Sundays game is sold-out!

There are incentives have your student ticket scanned at every game and get your money refunded.

I can't tell you how many games Kansas Players would attribute W's to their fans. We will never be there but we could sure equal what was going on in the Cintas Center Wed.

We will never be there!? Great attitude! You've already given up before you've even tried! Wonderful!

Exactly! A friend from out of state whose son attends Seton Hall was planning on going to the game Sunday before heading home for spring break. I'm sure others have similar plans. I also saw a student Facebook page where kids were looking for tickets from others who may not be able to go. I'm sure the student section will be filled.

I don't really get your post Shu but anyway.

You think the Rock is gonna resemble Allen fieldhouse? I'm the loudest most annoying fan at our games but after being at Allen the last two years no chance. You realize not one fan sits the whole game? Not saying we need to do that but it ant happening...

Lets take it to Xavier

No students for Sunday. Place will be dead.
Pat
Men's game or Women's game. Students section will be crazy for men's game. Women's game attendance should be above average. Enjoy the ride. Let's go pirates.

Try sitting in the faculty section. Everyone hates me, because I am all over the refs, the opposing team, and jump up at every score. But oh well, too bad, be a fan.

Isn't it spring break at every school? Didn't seem to impact Xavier, Virginia, and many others I watched today.
Seems we are quick to jump at any excuse to explain poor attendance when to me it's more simple than that...we haven't won in many years. Start winning, develop an identity, and people will come.
Look I understand we have a smaller student body than a lot of schools... But we also have a lot of casual basketball fans in this area. Have to attract them
