Haven't been on the board a ton lately, so just in case this one wasn't posted yet...

height means nada in terms of SHU basketball's past... Sha, Dre, Donald... all were not tall but played damn good ball for us

considered him more of our steal specialist but ur right

i see a lot of highlights of him finishing at the rim from a low point. hes gonna need to go up quicker in college. dont get me wrong it looks #swaggy (lol) but that ball will get deflated in the big east.

his jumper release looks super quick.

lots of highlights of him scoring, obviously, but were not going to need him to score. if he can just facilitate and play D then were golden. if he hits his FTs and nails the open 3 then hes perfect.

He can and does pass very well. Finds the open man with ease. Knows where the open man is/will be even before the player is open. Similar to a QB passing to a spot knowing the receiver will be there open.

And from everything I know he hits his FTs.

Not height strength. Same with McKnight. Both have a lot of BB ability but for most to play at this level you have to be strong. Both will spend a lot of time in the weight room.

I noticed that too.. he finishes at the basket low, in college at any level that isn't going to fly. I think part of that is him trying to be flashy with his finish at he rim and again that's not gonna work in college. He will figure it out, he is very quick and has a nice shot... it all depends on how quick he adapts

The one thing that really impressed me watching him live for the first time last season is that he looks to pass before scoring. When guards have the ability to break down their man whenever they want they usually look to score first and facilitate second. That wasn't the case with Walker. He knew he could put up numbers but instead fed his teammates first and foremost.

This kid is wizard with the ball. I don't think Madison had that type of handle.

Not at all. What Jones had and still does over Walker is experience. Once Walker understands what Willard wants him to do on the court, and that's not an easy thing to learn, he'll be a better player than Jones.

But that won't happen overnight.

This is a spot on assessment of Walker in my opinion. He can add a ton of value if he sticks to the aspects of the game as you lay them out. Usually such good judgment would be tough to expect from a freshman, but this guy seems to have better than average maturity. I hope it plays out this way, obviously.

Same thing but to a higher degree with Carrington.

With him and Powell on the court at the same time there will be no more sloughing off up top. Meaning Angel will have more room to do his thing down low, especially when Mamu is playing the 4.

All this sophisticated basketball talk is getting me excited for the season. LET'S GO PIRATES. C'MON

Can someone compare and contrast basketball abilities of Walker and Aquille Carr. Please keep it to basketball only.

In addition to maturity he seems super confident. this is the most important part of a SHU freshman imo. For so many years our highly anticipated freshman have been slightly disappointing with the reason being confidence. These could even be said about IW to some extent. But take Myles Powell for instance. he bucked this trend. he stayed confident. Sure he might have been 0-7 from 3 at times, but ultimately it helped him. He performed extremely well in the most important game of the year and had a great freshman season. If Walker has that type of confidence he'll eventually work out any turnover issues he may have, if he has any at all.

In regards to Powell, the kid could be 0-7 and I still wanted him to shoot. I really thought everything he took was going to make. And in regards to Walker, the kid clearly has a chip on his shoulder. I love when kids have that.....I am really excited for this kid.

i think its also really important to note hes part of the jelly fam movement, which i believe is putting the interest and spotlight back to NYC basketball... dont really know what it is but i think its good for us

The best part about powells game for me is his confidence, even when he missed a shot last year he was always there on the defensive end for one of his behind the shooter blocks or rebounds, kid knows he can ball even when hes not shooting great, swagger

The best thing we saw with Powell last year is that he was more than just a shooter.

Great kid off the court as well. Was very willing last season to stay quiet, respect his predecessors and wait his turn.

Yes - Very surprised at how well he drives to basket. In addition, had a knack for getting his hands on ball defensively.

Powell is a good passer, drives to the bucket well and has great anticipation re stealing passes. Lots of frosh hit a wall. Myles may have hit it, but he eventually barreled thru and was real good at the end. And we have him for three more years. That is pretty exciting for me.

In one video of a game against HC, I saw him steal the ball several times from Quinerly and/or his backcourt mate. He is a quick kid with good hands. Will be an excellent defender on a defensive-focused team like Seton Hall.

Powell and Walker are both going to be fan favorites and great ambassadors for our Program.

They both always have huge smiles :D on their faces, are always positive, play very hard and seem to be very well-liked by their peers in NJ/NYC basketball community.

School should market them and send them out to local schools in NJ to promote Seton Hall basketball and fill the Rock.
