Jim Larranaga out

Larranaga was on the Rumor Mill when we let go of Louis Orr in 2006. Was he ever a serious candidate here though? I don’t think so?

What’s the reason? Another coach sick of the current dynamics or forced out? Or maybe one in the same.
Seems combo of both, lot of recent losing, but seems to be having trouble as well with portal and he doesn't seem happy with new college dynamics.

I heard he isn’t necessarily “fed up” with the system..he obv does not like it

But it’s more like he just can’t learn or want to learn a new system..it’s been tough and too much for him

Oh and guess what he’s complained about his NIL funds

so it sounds exactly like he's fed up with it...

it's abundantly clear

did you not look at his comments posted here?
I listened to him and talked to him before but thanks

Love the guy But he wasn’t fed up 2 years ago when they hit the ground running in NIL and he wasn’t fed up when they were reaching out to KR

It got to be too much for him..he didn’t even know who he was recruiting anymore

Also, he got tired of his diminished NIL and losing out

Miami has --and will always -- care more about Football ( and perhaps Baseball ) than Basketball.
He did a super job for U of Miami Basketball

There’s no chance you quit in the middle of a season. And just at the beginning of the conference schedule without something serious behind the scenes.

NIL and the portal are long over with for this season. If it’s too much then say you’re quitting at the end of this season so you don’t have to worry about it and only focus on basketball one last time.

Bribery? Current Players or their agents shaking him down for more money now out of his pocket? Probably

He quit like 10 months ago lol

Yeah of course he benefited from NIL at first, then saw what it would take to maintain it and have to recruit players and assemble new teams every year and said no thanks. He was clearly struggling to do so too, look at the results. I don't think it makes him a hypocrite or anything, who wants to do this crap when you've won 700+ games and can retire happily?

Larranga benefited by Miami paying players before NIL and when NIL started. Now, that it became legal, and the blue bloods plus the SEC and the Big 10 were up and running, Larranga no longer wanted to put in all the hard work and play the game. This was probably his last year. It ended earlier because of the poor start.

He had a huge problem with the tampering and how to manage it and how to do it yourself

He told everyone he would get through his contract and be done but was done for awhile

lol..um yea
Okay so in your eyes hypothetically not caring for a year or more is more of a sign of quitting than actually quitting in the middle of a season. Sure pal. If he quit before or after the season it wouldn’t be a story here. But keep saying he didn’t quit this week

Nobody cares if he mentally checked out a year ago. He physically quit in the middle of a season. And we’re talking about the state of college basketball.

Go on the Miami board if his performance bothers you

He was also an excellent college player. Saw him at Walsh on the first Dave Gavitt PC team in 1970. Great team player who scored fewer points each of his three years as teams improved. Played second fiddle at that Walsh game to teammate and Essex Catholic star Vic Collucci; as a senior the scoring leader was Ernie D. In the course of four years Larranaga played for Jack Curran, Joe Mullaney, and Gavitt.
