Michigan men’s basketball coach Juwan Howard couldn’t keep it together in the final minute of the Wolverines’ 80-76 loss to North Carolina on Wednesday.

With 36 seconds left to play and the Tar Heels up 77-71, Howard lost his cool on the sidelines during an argument with an official. In video footage from the incident, the coach can be seen angrily shouting while being restrained by his own players.

Howard, who is in his fourth season with the Wolverines, also appeared to snap at Michigan players while they escorted him to the sidelines. He appeared to tell one of his players, “don’t f–king touch me.”

Michigan has now lost three of its past five games to fall to 7-4 on the season. The loss to UNC (9-4) marked another non-conference defeat for the Wolverines, including losses to Arizona State, Kentucky and Virginia.

This isn’t the first time Howard lost his temper during a game. Last season, the Michigan coach took a swing at Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft, which led to an on-court brawl between the two teams.

At the time, Howard said he felt the “need to defend himself,” after claiming “someone touched me” and things escalated from there.

Howard, a member of Michigan’s Fab Five in the early ’90s, was later suspended five games, which marked the remainder of the regular season, and fined $40,000.

Is this an old article - lol.

Because it keeps happening. I guess grand old Michigan University is happy with him or afraid to do anything about his behavior?

In the new NIL, pay for play world will this matter less to Universities? I wonder.

They went far too easy on him last season. He didn't learn his lesson.

Five games for the handshake line debacle? It was ugly. He should have not been allowed to coach for the rest of the season. Quite honestly, Michigan would have been well within their rights to suspend him the rest of 2022 calendar year or fire him. Fortunately, karma has kinda come 'round and bit them on the @$$, as the basketball team has been downright mediocre since the incident.

Could very well eventually blow up in their face, and it's not a particularly good look with the university crying foul at other schools for incidents inside the tunnel in the football stadium when their own basketball coach cannot control himself.

I'm usually a fan of UofM sports(not a popular opinion around here, I know), but they are likely going to get themselves in real trouble with the path Juwan is on. This is one area the university is not doing right.
