Mike Gundy

Watch the power his players are about to
Have, it will echo throughout college sports.
Would be interesting to see him get fired. I can’t imagine wearing a shirt that says OAN is cause to fire. His lawyer shouldn’t have a problem getting the school to pay up big time.

He isnt getting fired. But he needs to know his role. I am not saying he cant express his opinion. But he has already come out back in the earlier days of the pandemic and had some unflattering comments on the situation. When I lived in California, I met a young early 20s something woman at a house party, she was in junior college at the time. She ended up getting an on air talent position at OAN, although not there any longer.

He won’t be fired for a t-shirt. He may be fired for a 2 win season after all his players transfer.

Mike Gundy is the man. He has the closest thing a human being can have to an unlimited supply of t-shirts. Sure they all say "OSU" but it was his day off and he decided to go into his closet for something different. Perhaps it was a sort of subtle protest, while being away from the pressures of his day job. Alas, social media is unforgiving. I completely support his choice to be who he wants to be.

I think Gundy has to send Hubbard packing if Chuba tries to sit out. He would lose all respect from his current and future players that a player is running the show. Chuba is a great RB but he can't be bigger than the team or publicly challenge the head coach. If he privately went to Gundy that's one thing but to call him out on social media, yikes. I am sure Gundy doesn't tell Chuba what music he can listen to.

Your viewpoint surprised me. Glad to see we can agree on some things, Gundy being the man is one of them, as well as his freedom to wear a t shirt on a fishing trip lol

Mediocre coach, if not an alum of school would be long gone

He has won 67% of his games for a program that was sub .500 all-time before his arrival at a school that's an outpost in the plains. He's a pretty damn good coach.

I dont count bowl apps as success...while conf was 2 div format won a division via tiebreak once, won conference outright once, i would like to compute his record vs ranked opps and how many wins he has vs non power 5 and fcs in his time therr

You do know how bad Oklahoma st was historically right? Oklahoma St being a top tier team in the Big 12 every year is a miracle. Stillwater is a backwater town.

He was qb with thomas and sanders in backfield...he has gotten players there...he should have had some better success in money time, Oklahoma been on top get it, most other Big 12 teams have come in waives, Texas laboring

This is just about the t shirt.
The t shirt represents a news org channel that trends right wing. This is not an indictment on that. However, there are personalities at OAN that have very strong, aggresive views against Black Lives Matter. This player is a black person although from Canada I believe. This is much like Drew Brees, present day is.not the.time to be representing his display knowing that he has a lot of black players that have given him a great living.

hilarious!

Do you think it is not a big problem that 75% of black kids grow up without a father around? You cannot fathom how this might foster the gang culture and street life that so many fall into?

LeBron James and Kevin Durant are the rare exception, tons of talent and they got out. Many talented kids fall victim to the street and their life ends up a cautionary tale. Unfortunately LeBum doesn't use his ginormous platform to promote improving black family units or improving their neighborhoods to not allow young men to kill one another. He just stokes the flames of white man bad.

I left out the word not...

We are really living in an interesting time......you older folks on here are getting out of this world at a good time :)
History teaches us a lot about perspective. Had an opportunity a few years ago to spend two days at Gettysburg walking the battlefields with someone from the Army War College. To say this is so ridiculously trivial would be an understatement to say the least. Outrage....lol

Gundy could have taken the easy way out and made a statement that it's just a shirt but he apologizes if he offended anyone. Instead he acted like a man, courageously met with his constituents, and change is now afoot. That is the kind of leadership missing in our government today.

Honestly I had no idea what OAN was before this so I guess you learn something new everyday. Looks like the spat has been settled. Would have been nice if the player called Gundy to discuss it as he said in the article posted below. Hopefully everyone doesn't feel the need to go viral with every little thing but sensitivities are running extremely high. I hope that instead sometimes people engage in conversation and pick up the phone. That conversation starts at home and at work and with people you are with on a daily basis instead of going on social media with every little thing where all the worlds problems are solved???

Just as I am incensed that Kap wore cops are pig socks during an interview, I do understand why some may have been upset about the t-shirt from a college coach that needs to understand the situation better especially in his position. I don't think it's in the same category (wearing a tv station t-shirt while going fishing vs. calling cops pigs at a press conference with your socks showing outwardly) but to some it is, so Gundy should have probably known better. Forgiveness and perspective are running very low right now so I will stop talking.

Here is what all the like-minded folks here who dont support black community empowerment fail to see or care about...OAN has a conservative female host Liz Wheeler who recently said Black Lives Matter is a farce...how many Jews would like it if a commentator said the Holocaust was a farce, how many WW2 vets or families would like it if a commentator said Pearl Harbor was a farce...same for 9/11...but again the caucasian sect here has no empathy will just continue to throw out words like libs, snowflake, fatherless households

Comparing the "black lives matter" organization to the Holocaust, WW2, Pearl Harbor and 9/11? You're a disgrace. You really need an education.

Wow that is pretty disgusting comparing BLM to events where thousands died instantly and millions in a few years. How disconnected from reality do you have to be to even think those are comparable

1) Liz Wheeler is hot.

2) If her comments are a stain on that entire channel, the same must apply to all the stupid things said on CNN, MSNBC, FOX, NBC, ABC, et al so no more tshirts.

3) Is it really empathy to want to keep people of color as wards of the state?

4) Surprised snowflakes are still around now that it is getting warmer.

5) Liz Wheeler is hot.

This was depicted in film 25 years ago one of my fav movies of the mid 90s and yet here we are...
